As we approach Memorial Day, our Rotarians have been busy preparing for another season of our Lease-a-Flag Program. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

Our Rotarians placed over 400 flags across our community this week! We sincerely appreciate each and every household and business that participates.

Not just on Memorial Day, but every day, we remember and honor the brave men and women who gave everything for our freedom. ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

This week our Rotarians once again participated in the One Book One Community Program! ๐Ÿ“–

Our members always enjoy this program which we have happily sponsored for the last 15 years. In its 19th year, the program now serves over 1,300 students each year across Cambria County and has served over 212,000 students since its inception!

Thanks to Barb Zaborowski of Penn Highlands Community College (PHCC) who runs this awesome program. This yearโ€™s book, Flooded by Ann E. Burg, tells the story of the 1889 Johnstown Flood through the voices of six children (real children, connected to real families in Johnstown). Check out the captions on our photos for more information on each of the activities.

Thanks to our Rotarians who came out today for our Rotary Epic Day of Service - where Rotary clubs around the world worked together within their own communities to create impact. ๐Ÿ‘

Here in Ebensburg, we weeded, planted, and mulched all the gardens at Prave Street along the Ghost Town Trail.

Special thanks to Jan Kuncelman for leading this project, Smith Lawn Service, LLC for their time and materials, and to all our member businesses who invest in this great community beautification project every year!

Special thanks also to Jeff Kuncelman for building and setting up a BEAUTIFUL new lending library near Lake Rowena!! ๐Ÿ“š

For over 20 years, the Ebensburg Rotary Club has honored Earth Day by gathering garbage through our Adopt-a Highway program across a two-mile stretch of Route 219, north of town. In spite of the rain, we continued that tradition this year and gathered 23 bags of garbage!

Thanks to Jim Stratton for leading this project and our 9 Rotarians who helped to make our area a little cleaner. ๐ŸŒŽ

Have you heard of One Book One Community? ๐Ÿ“–

Ebensburg Rotary Club is honored to have sponsored this amazing program for the last 15 years. In its 19th year, the program now serves over 1,300 students each year across Cambria County and has served over 212,000 students since its inception!

We would like to thank guest speaker, Barb Zaborowski, of Penn Highlands Community College (PHCC) who recently updated our members on this yearโ€™s book - Flooded by Ann E. Burg. This book tells the story of the 1889 Johnstown Flood through the voices of six children (real children, connected to real families in Johnstown).

Students receive the book in the Fall and in May after reading the book, they travel to PHCC to participate in hands-on activities related to the book.

Students that were once involved in the program are now volunteering to help with the activities because they enjoyed the program so much when they were young! โค๏ธ
