‼️💔 IMPORTANT UPDATE: Jim Mayer Riverswalk Family Fun Run

If you have already registered for this event, please read this post in full.

Unfortunately, due to severe storm damage on the Jim Mayer Riverswalk, we have had to make the very difficult decision to CANCEL this year’s Jim Mayer Riverswalk Family Fun Run.

We know this is a local favorite, and we are truly sorry. We were looking forward to seeing everyone out on the trail, but the safety and condition of the trail have to come first. Sometimes nature has her way.

If you were registered for this year’s race, an email was sent to you moments ago. You have four options:

1. Defer to next year — Your registration will transfer to next year’s race. No shirt this year.

2. Full refund — Receive a full refund by check in the mail. No shirt this year.

3. Shirt + partial refund — Pick up your shirt tomorrow and receive a refund with $16 deducted for the shirt. Refund checks will be mailed and should arrive within a couple of weeks.

4. Donate your registration — Receive no refund and allow your registration fee to support the trail. You may still pick up your shirt tomorrow if you'd like.

📍 Shirt pickup / in-person registration questions: Riverside Trailhead, 200 Michigan Ave., Johnstown (you can park here to collect shirt/discuss with me in person)
📅 Saturday, September 5
⏰ 7:30–9:00 a.m.

All pre-registrants: please respond to the email you received with your choice, or stop by Riverside tomorrow morning so we know how you'd like us to handle your registration. If you did not receive the email, please check your spam folder. If you still cannot locate it, please email us at [email protected] with your choice of how to handle your registration.

If we don't hear from you, your registration will be treated as a race-day no-show, with no refund or shirt.

We are so grateful for your patience, understanding, and support of this trail and this event. ❤️ We hope to see you all back on the Jim Mayer Trail next year!

⚠️ TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE ⚠️

The Jim Mayer Riverswalk trail is temporarily closed between Riverside and Bridge Street due to downed trees and power lines. Please avoid this area entirely until it is cleared.

We will update on here as soon as the trail is reopened and safe for use. Thank you for your cooperation!

🔍 GHOST HUNT CLUE
Status: FOUND

This little ghost has a sweet tooth — he made a pit stop at his favorite trailside shop for a waffle gob before he kept moving. From there he crossed not one, but two large bridges, chasing the trail onward. On the far side of the second bridge, a little glen caught his eye, and that's where he decided to settle in for good. He's tucked in cozy now, just keeping one eye on his blanket — hoping the wind doesn't have other plans for it! 👻

🏁 Pick your distance:�🔸 Marathon (26.2 mi)�🔸 15-Miler�🔸 5K (run/walk/wheel)�🔸 Couch Potato 0.0K — yes, really! �🔸 Casual 26.2-mile Group Bike Ride

♿ Athletes with Disabilities (AWD) division offered for the 5K, with its own top 3 awards.

🏅 Every finisher gets a medal, and all pre-registered participants get a free commemorative long-sleeve shirt. Top 3 male/female finishers in the Marathon, 15-Miler, 5K, and AWD 5K take home awards!

🚶‍♀️🏃‍♂️🚴 Trail Reminders 🚴🏃‍♀️🚶

Our trails are open to walking, running, and cycling! A few friendly reminders to keep things safe and enjoyable for everyone:
✅ E-bike use follows PA state e-bike law
✅ Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after
🚫 Stealing of signs and locks is a crime, and is never okay
🚫 Horses are not permitted on the trails
🚫 ATVs and dirt bikes are not permitted on the trails

Trail etiquette tips:
🎧 Skip the double earbuds — you'll want to hear others coming
➡️ Keep to the right, pass on the left
🔔 Give a heads-up with a bell or a friendly "on your left!" before passing
🐢 Slow down when passing others, especially dogs and their humans

🚨 TEMPORARY TRAIL CLOSURE 🚨

The Jim Mayer Riverswalk will be temporarily closed between Horner Street and Central Avenue due to an overhanging tree. We anticipate having this resolved tomorrow midday, please avoid this section of trail in the meantime. We will post an update once it is safely removed, thank you for your cooperation and understanding!

This little ghost doesn't like the spotlight — he'd rather stay low and dry, right where the trail ducks under the road instead of crossing it. Follow the trail past the old stone pieces — leftovers from a historic bridge that once crossed at Red Mill. 👻
