WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING
Winter Storm Watch issued February 4 at 12:32PM EST until February 7 at 7:00AM EST by NWS State College PA..❄️ HEAVY SNOW AND NEAR BLIZZARD 🌬️ CONDITIONS POSSIBLE FRIDAY INTO SATURDAY MORNING...A strong Arctic front will deliver moderate to heavy snow, strong
winds, and dangerously cold wind chills to the Laurel Highlands
Friday into Saturday morning.
* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches with locally higher amounts up to 6 inches possible on the summits and ridgetops. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
* WHERE...Cambria and Somerset Counties.
* WHEN...From Friday morning through Saturday morning. The heaviest snow is expected Friday afternoon through Friday night.
* IMPACTS...Near-blizzard conditions with very low visibility are
possible and may make travel treacherous and potentially
life-threatening. Blowing and drifting snow is possible Friday
night through Saturday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Wind chills will fall below zero Friday night
with values as low as 20 to 30 below zero through Saturday
morning. Frostbite and hypothermia can occur in these conditions
in less than 30 minutes.
Persons should delay all travel if possible. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution and be prepared for sudden
changes in visibility. Make sure your car is winterized and in good
working order.

With everyone digging out be a good neighbor check on the elderly or disabled they are leass mobile in this weather and may need some help. As another act of being a good neighbor help the firefighters out and clear fire hydrants of snow. This little task my save your or someones life.

Storm preparations are in full swing in Cambria County. Local emergency services are ramping up crews and special equipment. 911 is staffed and ready to keep staff past shifts if roads become to dangerous to travel. Emergent Management will be staffing our office ready to assist when needed. Weather conditions continue with the bitter cold and snow ❄️ is moving into the area soon as well. Traffic restrictions are posted and set to go into effect. We hope that you have prepared for the worst. Our community is strong and resilient so relax and enjoy the show. Mother nature is amazing and a winter storm can be a beautiful thing with preparation. Our partners at the US National Weather Service State College PA continues to provide updates. The forecast is remaining on track. Impacts from this major winter storm are expected. Major disruptions to travel and infrastructure are likely. Shelter is open at this time and will remain open till power is restored. Fire Dept is providing warmth and power to charge devices.
