It’s been 18 years since we lost our brother Jay Maddy. We know that you are looking over all of us and you are missed everyday.

May 23, 2008 - LODD
Firefighter Jay C. Maddy, 41
Eaton Bureau of Fire. IN
Firefighter Maddy and members of his fire department had responded to numerous arson fires since Wednesday evening, May 21, 2008. There had been 21 incidents in less than 24 hours. A curfew was imposed and a "fire watch" was established. Firefighter Maddy served on a fire watch detail until approximately 0200hrs on May 23, 2008. Several suspects were arrested. After being at home for a short period of time, Firefighter Maddy assisted with a fire department fund raiser work detail that started at 0800hrs and was concluded after noon. At approximately 2300hrs Firefighter Maddy was taken to a hospital with chest pain. He died a few hours later in surgery.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the incredible moms, grandmas, stepmoms, and mother figures in our community and within our fire department family.

Today we celebrate the women who answer calls for help at home and in the community every single day with strength, compassion, and love. Whether you’re serving beside us, supporting us from home, or raising the next generation, your dedication does not go unnoticed.

From all of us at the fire department, thank you for everything you do. We hope your day is filled with love, appreciation, and time with those who matter most. ❤️🚒

This is a friendly reminder that when Police, Fire, EMS, EMA, or other responding units are using a vehicle, cones, and/or caution tape to block a roadway it does not mean:

🚫Lets just go around them
🚫Lets cut through parking lots to go around them and end up in the middle of the scene they have the road blocked for
🚫The vehicle, traffic cone, and responder directing traffic is only a suggestion.
🚫If only on direction of traffic is shut down I can wait until the other direction is clear and go around

What it does mean:
✅️I can not go around them unless directed by the responders to do so
✅️I can not cut through parking lots to bypass them especially if I end up in the scene they are working
✅️The vehicle, traffic cone, and responder directing traffic is NOT a suggestion and you can be cited for a criminal act for disregarding them.
✅️If they have a single direction of travel shut down it does not mean to wait and go around them unless directed to do so.

When you ignore the responders and the tools they use for traffic control you place yourself, the responders, and other citizens in harms way.
