As part of the arrival process, Main St between Knight St and State St will be closed on Thursday October 2nd, 2025 from 9:00am to 1:00pm to park our guests. Please plan to give yourself extra time navigating downtown. If you need to access a business in the downtown, the city lots behind Main St will be open except for the following. Lot #4 (On Hall St at the footbridge) will be closing tonight (Tuesday, September 30th) in preparation for placing the event tent on Wednesday. The 100 Block of East and West Hamlin St will be closed beginning early Thursday morning through the conclusion of the event on Sunday.

Please text EATON to 67283 to sign up for Emergency Alerts on road closures and other emergency notifications within Eaton County.

ERPD and ERFD had an awesome surprise visit today from some special olympic competitors and thier coach. We showed off some of our equipment and heard about how Jeffery once helped assist with solving a crime. The team will be competing in track events at the Michigan Special Olympics in Mount Pleaseant this weekend. Good luck, run fast, have fun and thanks for stopping by.

ERPD is proud to announce that School Resource Officer Jason Ferguson is the 2025 recipient of the Roger McNutt Public Safety Award. It was presented last night at the Eaton Rapids Chamber of Commerce awards banquet.

In addition to his primary duties of enforcing the law and working to assure school safety. SRO Ferguson does a lot of things that might surprise you. Here is a list of just a few. He has cooked breakfast for students, taught fly fishing, teaches students how to professionally greet people, provides free shoes when needed and has facilitated work experiences. He always goes above and beyond expectations.

Congratulations SRO Ferguson on a well deserved recognition.

In 2021 the Collin Rose Foundation discovered through old newspapers that Eaton Rapids Police Officer, George "Tom" Emery died on May 31st, 1947 from a cardiac event in the line of duty. It occurred moments after he arrested two subjects who were fighting in the west alley of the 100 Block of S Main St. In honor of Off Emery, Lt. Creger traveled to Washington D.C. during police week in 2022. Two hundred and twenty four names were added to the the National Law Enforcement Memorial wall that year. Off Emery's was one of them.

In honor of police week and the sacrifice of Off. George "Tom" Emery and his family, officers from ERPD visited his grave site and did a bit of clean up of the grave markers. In addition, we placed a thin blue line flag and memorial emblem to recognize his service.

You are not forgotten sir.
