🎓 As the school year comes to a close, the Teen Tent Snack Shop will be closing for the season on June 16.

We encourage teens and families to continue accessing free food through our outdoor community refrigerator, which is stocked daily, and to visit the Food Bank during our regular hours on Tuesdays and Fridays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. 💚 Reminder senior hour is Tuesday 11 am - 12 pm.

A special shoutout to Ginny, one of many volunteers whose dedication and care helped make the Teen Tent such a welcoming and nourishing space for local youth this year. Thank you, Ginny, for showing for our island teens! 🌟
And thank you to everyone who supported the Teen Tent Snack Shop throughout the school year. Together, we helped ensure that teens had access to free snacks, food, and a friendly place to stop by after school.

We wish all our students a fun, safe, and healthy summer! ☀️🍎

🌱 Fresh from our local farmers! 🌱

Today at the Food Bank, we have locally grown starts and fresh cilantro from Orcas Farm available for shoppers. 🌿

A huge shoutout to the farmers and growers who help nourish our island community with fresh, local food. Your generosity and hard work make a difference every day. 💚

Our current Food Bank has served this community well, but we've outgrown the space. As need continues to rise, we're running out of room to store food, serve neighbors, and expand critical programs.

That's why we're building the Pea Patch Community Campus — a bold, community-led solution that will provide:
🍎 A permanent new Food Bank facility
🏘️ 20 affordable long-term rental homes
👩‍🍳 A commercial kitchen for community use
🌿 Green spaces and walking paths

This isn't just a building project. It's an investment in the future of Orcas Island.
Today, more than 50 percentof island households qualify for Food Bank and/or SNAP benefits, and government funding for both has been dramatically reduced. At least half of island residents experience food and/or housing insecurity.
Our neighbors are vital. Meeting basic human needs is foundational to a healthy community.

Thanks to incredible community support, we've already raised $31 million—more than 78 percent of our goal. Now we're asking for your help to bring this vision across the finish line.

We’re grateful for every generation that helps keep our community connected and cared for. 💌

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸
At the Orcas Island Food Bank, we are especially grateful for the veterans, military families, and community members who continue to serve others every day through acts of care, generosity, and compassion.
As we gather with loved ones this weekend, we’re reminded that community is built through people showing up for one another in both big and small ways. 💚

We’ve been collaborating with Orcas Video and our community to help tell the story of this exciting vision for Orcas Island, a collaborative community space where islanders can access food, affordable housing, and supportive services that foster connection, equity, dignity, and long-term wellbeing for generations to come.

The Pea Patch Community Campus will include:
🍎 A permanent new Food Bank facility built to meet growing island needs
🏘️ 20 new long-term affordable townhome rentals with supportive housing services for low-income households

👩‍🍳 A new commercial kitchen designed to welcome and serve the larger community
This transformative project is a partnership between OPAL Community Land Trust and the Orcas Island Food Bank.
And thanks to incredible community support, as of February 2026 we have already raised $31 million, more than 78% of our fundraising goal! 🎉

Together, we are building more than a campus. We are building a stronger, healthier future for Orcas Island. 💚
