Coast Guard Station Eastport Is the most northeastern CG search and rescue station in the United States. This station is home to the 47ft Motor Life Boat 47265 and the 29ft Response Boat Small 29240. CG Station Eastport has an offshore coverage from Calais, Maine

all the way down to Cutler, Maine and also responds into Canadian waters for Search and Rescue missions. CG Station Eastport also operates maritime law enforcement missions ensuring safety on the water of the United States. It operates under the Department of Homeland Security during peacetime, and can be transferred to the Department of the Navy by the President at any time, or by Congress during time of war. The history of Station Eastport:
A Life Saving Service was established at Carrying Place Cove, approximately 1 mile west of West Quoddy in 1873. In 1917 the West Quoddy Head Station was built to replace the Carrying Place Cove Station. It consisted of a two-story building containing living quarters, four garages, a utility building and a boathouse. In 1970 its assets included 12 crewmen, a 36-foot lifeboat, a 40ft utility boat and motorized fire fighting equipment. The Station is credited with being a backup to the local Fire Department. The Station occupied 5 acres of land near West Quoddy

On Saturday we said goodbye to FN Figlo who left Eastport for ATC Mobile to start his preparations for AST A-School. FN Figlo originally started out at Eastport as a SN and went above and beyond and achieved his engineering qualification before switching to the engineering department. The station recently said goodbye to FN Jesse Atamanuk as he departs for Air Station Miami as part of the Airman program before AET A-School. FN Atamanuk dedicated a year and a half of service to Station Eastport and consistently demonstrated his ability to complete work well above his pay grade. His work ethic and dedication will be missed greatly by the station. The crew is going to miss you FN Atamanuk. Fair winds and following seas and good luck in Miami!!

This morning we welcomed the First Coast Guard District Commander Rear Admiral Platt and First District Command Master Chief Riemer for a unit visit. While they were here they took the time to interact with the crew and recognize FN Atamanuk and BM2 Stewart for their commitment to the unit. We also took time this morning to present BM3 Moss with his 47 Boat Crew letter and SN Figlo with his Engineer letter. Congratulations to everyone on their achievements and thank you to Admiral and Master Chief for the visit!

Congratulations to both BM3 Canaglia and BM3 Kane on receiving their Coxswain letters today. Each of them have spent countless hours driving the boats and memorizing numerous manuals in order to achieve this Qualification. BM2 Katya Fons was not just a fellow servicemember; she was a dedicated friend and a welcome ray of positivity in the Eastport community.
