Residents are urged to limit outdoor activities, dress appropriately, bring pets indoors, check vulnerable neighbors and use caution with heating sources. Never discard fireplace or wood stove ashes in your garage or near your home.
Cold Weather Summary:
We are looking at another blast of arctic air to move across our area late Monday into Wednesday mid-day. Tuesday temps will be well below normal, even for January. This will
translate to very cold conditions with high temperatures on Tuesday only ranging between 15 to 25 degrees, which is 10 to 15 degrees below normal temperatures for that time of year.
In addition, we could see wind gusts 20-35 mph Monday night through Tuesday. This will bring wind chill values into the negative single digits to single digits on Tuesday morning and single digits in most spots during the day on Tuesday. Tuesday night, the temperature is also expected to be in the single digits.
Slightly warmer temperatures arrive by later Wednesday before another arctic air blast is excepted to arrive next week with the coldest air of the season.
Snow information:
Yesterday’s snow created significant travel issues in Easton and our neighboring Towns. More snow is predicted today.
Weather is challenging to predict and often overperforms as it did yesterday, which makes responding to the consequences of it even harder. While we recognize that some travel may be required, do your part and stay off the roads during snow events. Let the crews do their job before you travel. If you must travel, slow down! All vehicles must be removed from public roads during and after a snowstorm. Our DPW is committed to keeping the roads as safe as possible. They have already been out this Sunday morning treating the roads.
Walking surfaces:
Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults ages 65 and older. Please watch your step and give yourself extra time. Assume surfaces that look wet might be icy. Please clear walkways of snow/ice, treat with salt/sand, and be extra cautious entering/exiting vehicles. Most falls are preventable by being prepared and aware.
Please take precautions and stay safe during this period of cold weather.
Be Safe!
