A few moments from a very meaningful day in Annapolis.

We are so proud to see Executive Director Cristy Morrell recognized by Governor Wes Moore for her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to children and families across the Mid-Shore.

As Maryland continues important conversations around childcare access and affordability, Cristy remains a strong voice for the families and educators our communities depend on every day.

A proud and well deserved moment for our Executive Director, Cristy at today’s final 2026 bill signing session in Annapolis!

During his remarks, Governor Wes Moore recognized Critchlow Adkins for our decades of service to the Mid-Shore, and highlighted Cristy’s leadership and advocacy on behalf of Maryland families and childcare providers. In a special moment, he invited her to join him and presented her with the ceremonial signing pen in recognition of her work and impact.

Cristy was at the State House as two important childcare bills were signed into law - legislation she helped advocate for across the state. The bills will expand access to childcare scholarships and help make care more affordable for working families.

We are incredibly proud of Cristy for being a strong voice for children, families, and the childcare community, and honored to see her leadership recognized!

Last week, we had the joy of celebrating Kaleigh on her graduation from Chesapeake College!

She grew up in our programs, returned to serve on staff, and continues to pour back into the same community that helped shape her journey. We are also especially proud to celebrate this milestone alongside her mom, Keieve, our dedicated School Age Site Director, whose leadership and support have impacted so many children and families over the years.

Kaleigh, your hard work, compassion, and commitment to your future inspire all of us. Congratulations on this amazing accomplishment!

It’s been a busy and exciting couple of weeks in Cordova! Families gathered for the annual Mother’s Day Lunch, and a huge thank you goes out to all the moms, special ladies, and teachers who helped make the event so meaningful.

Students also enjoyed a fun strawberry picking trip to Family Affair Farms alongside the Trappe site πŸ“. One of the biggest highlights was releasing nine beautiful butterflies after watching them grow and transform πŸ¦‹βœ¨.

πŸ“ White Marsh Site Highlights
Butterfly excitement continued at White Marsh this week! After patiently watching their caterpillars transform, preschoolers finally released their butterflies and watched them fly away πŸ›βž‘οΈπŸ¦‹. Show and tell featured a beautiful variety of flowers, helping everyone learn about different colors, shapes, and textures 🌼.

School age friends focused on β€œBook Week” by creating their very own books πŸ“š. They also released their class butterflies and celebrated the success of last Friday’s Peace Project Art Gallery, which was a wonderful showcase of their creativity and hard work πŸŽ¨β˜€οΈ

School age students have been β€œbusy bees” exploring cultures from around the world! 🌎 The group worked together on projects about different countries, tasted fun foods, and spent lots of time outdoors enjoying the beautiful weather.

Friends from the Easton High School Interact Club joined in for games from Puerto Rico, Ghana, and Greece, creating a cultural experience for everyone ⚽✨. A huge thank you also goes out to families and staff who attended Group 2’s Mother’s Day/Special Lady Tea Partyβ€”it was such a special celebration filled with appreciation and joy πŸ’.

Hands-on activities and imaginative play made for another fun-filled week of learning and discovery!

πŸ“ St. Michaels Site Highlights
There was so much excitement happening in St. Michaels! A big thank you to the Judy Center Early Learning Hub for inviting students to a special assembly with Grammy-winning duo 123 Andrés, where they learned songs in both English and Spanish 🎡✨.
