Our rivers are beautiful, but they are deceptively powerful and unpredictable. Please watch our new water safety video with our first responders.

The safest choice you can make is to stay out of the river entirely. Even strong swimmers can be quickly overwhelmed by strong currents, sudden drop-offs, and underwater debris.
Swimming, wading, or cooling off in the river is highly dangerous and strongly discouraged.

If you are boating, kayaking, or fishing from the banks, a personal flotation device (PFD/life vest) is not optional — it is a life-saving necessity. A sudden slip or a single misstep into a current can happen in a second. A life jacket buys you the time needed for rescue.

Let’s look out for one another and keep our families safe.

Yesterday, officers responded to North Delaware Drive for a male experiencing a mental health crisis. Over the course of several hours, our officers and detectives, along with multiple agencies assisted in resolving the incident peacefully, faced with difficult circumstances and challenging terrain.

We extend our thanks and appreciation to Forks Township Fire Dept, Easton Fire Department, Pennsylvania Water Rescue Station 72, Suburban EMS, Bethlehem Township EMS, Lower Mt Bethel Sandt's Eddy Fire Company, Pennsylvania State Police, Salisbury Township Police Department’s crisis negotiator, and Northampton County Emergency Management Services.
