"Words, and even pictures can't describe the level of work that is being accomplished on a daily basis on this campus. A huge thanks to our hard working Building Inspectors, whose on-site diligence has helped keep this project above the required code and on time, to the team at University of Maryland Shore Regional Health for their commitment to realizing this vision, and to Whiting-Turner for their top-shelf work. Of course, having the new medical center will be transformative for our community, but speaking just from the construction side, I think people are going to be really amazed once this all comes together."
-Mayor Megan Cook
Yesterday, Mayor Megan Cook and Town Manager Andy Kitzrow visited the construction site of the new University of Maryland Shore Regional Medical Center for a tour of the facility with our Building Department permits team.
Town Building Inspectors Ryan Heckler and Mark Turner (who is on-site nearly every day) showed the Mayor and Town Manager around the 230+ acre campus, with some additional help from Scott Saxman and Chris Mitchell from Whiting-Turner, the contractors for this amazing project.
Showing off the impressive progress made since the ceremonial groundbreaking in October 2024, Turner took our group around the Hospital perimeter, and inside the structure for a behind-the-scenes look at multiple levels of the future medical center.
It is truly remarkable to see everything coming together, and inspiring to see the level of partnership from the Shore Regional Health team, Whiting Turner, and the Town and County on working together to bring this incredible resource to our community.
