Come see the Easton Middle School Band perform tomorrow at Talbot's Annual September 11th Ceremony at 8 am by the Library! Engaging our students in our county's events is critical to the relationship between County Council and the School Board because every year County Council votes to give a certain amount of money to the school systems.

Serving on the Board of Education requires team work. A majority vote makes change so its critical to be in collaboration. I've truly appreciated the team work of the current board.

Easton Middle School deserves some highlighting because their engagement with Conscious Discipline and the RCA House System has created a school culture of respect and dignity which has led to academic success. For 7th grade, the ELA test scores improved 5% and the Math test scores for improved 3%! Keep up the great work EMS! Vote for me, Amy Dodson, so this type of positive steady improvement can continue at EMS.

Hiring and reviewing the work of the superintendent is one of the most important aspects of the board of education. Finding the right leader for our county sets the stage for student and staff success. I am proud that we renewed our contract with Dr. P for four more years so we can continue the incredible data driven focus she has brought with her leadership. Thank you Dr. P for renewing your contract with TCPS!

Discipline is critical to education but often as a local school board we don't get to make discipline decisions. This year our board became a leader for a call for more local control over discipline. Please re-elect me so I can continue to fight for our school district!

At its May 20 meeting, the Talbot County Board of Education formally asked Maryland education leaders and lawmakers to review and revise student discipline policies that board members believe limit local schools’ ability to respond effectively to violent and chronically disruptive behavior.

Regulations and funding around summer school change from year to year. This year our finances limited our enrollment. Advocating for those with the greatest needs is important to me and I am not afraid to speak up! Please watch me in action at a board meeting this past summer.

In the last 4 years I have advocated for staff in a number of ways. One way is our Marathon Health Center! All staff, and their families, can access free primary and urgent care!
