Ted Sparko Memorial Easthampton Community Garden

Ted Sparko Memorial Easthampton Community Garden Welcome to the Ted Sparko Memorial Easthampton Community Garden! Interested in joining? Go to our about page! Have a picnic, watch the birds!

Gardeners range from novice to expert with opportunities to collaborate and build community at workdays, potlucks, committee meetings and more. Do not be shy if you are a new gardener, the garden and its committee are here to help you at every turn! Having a plot at the garden is a commitment to the other gardeners and comes with a shared responsibility to one another to learn and respect how each

plot affects the other and the garden at large. Maintaining a happy healthy garden is essential to having a plot. Garden plots are 20 by 20 feet with half size plots available. Each plot is $25 for the season and requires 4 hours of volunteer time from each gardener. Interested gardeners can inquire about plot availability and gardener eligibility by emailing the outreach coordinator. The current outreach coordinator is Margie Phillips and her email is: [email protected]. You must be 18 years or older to garden without a guardian. If you are younger than 18 your guardian must sign all documents, be on the garden email list and be present with you while gardening at the Ted Sparko Easthampton Community Garden. For more about the history of the garden check out the city webpage! Some Garden Reminders:

Please Do:
* Turn the water off and lock the shed when you leave!
* Park in the parking lot or across the street therefrom.
* Shop locally for your supplies
* Participate in workdays and volunteer opportunities
* Share recipes, tips, and information about local happenings
* Keep the edges of your plot clear of weeds.
* Spread wood chip mulch on the small paths
* Enjoy your time at the garden. Please Do Not:
* Do not move the PVC pipes in the corner of you plot
* leave trash at the garden (pack it in, pack it out!)
* throw rocks/plants/trash/dirt into the field
* put weeds in the compost bin!
* smoke (tobacco or otherwise); we have small children and tobacco can harm some plants (google tobacco mosaic virus).

Are you interested in getting a plot at the garden next year? Got questions about what we do? Now is the time to reach out! We have a few open plots that need to be filled, and there will probably be a few more when the season rolls over. Hope to see you next year!

Please Help Us Protect the Promenade Planters 🌿

The beautiful plants along the Nashawannuck Pond Promenade are carefully planted and maintained by our dedicated Parks & Recreation staff.

Unfortunately, we’ve seen ongoing issues with people picking or stealing plants from the promenade planters. This not only harms the display but also uses resources we can’t continually replace.

Please don’t take the flowers. Let’s all do our part to keep this special area vibrant and welcoming for the whole community.

Thank you for your respect and care!

We need help keeping the greenery in check! As we get into the Fall months the weeds and grass grow slower, but they don't stop. Got an extra half hour? Mow a little! Pull all the weeds from your garden? Venture into one of the community plots and work on our thistle crop (C1 to D2). Every bit helps!
If you have any questions about the equipment or which plots need volunteer work, ask here or at our Pot Luck party on the 22nd.

Hi everyone! This is a kind reminder to please shut off the water when you are done. Especially this week the ground will already be wet enough, we don't need an errant leaky hose making it worse.
