Homar Gomez - City Councilor, Precinct Two

Homar Gomez - City Councilor, Precinct Two My name is Homar Gomez, I am running for re-election to the position of City Councilor for Precinct 2. I'd be honored to have your vote.

We've accomplished quite a bit over the past 4 years, but there is still work to be done. A little bit about me and how I came to Easthampton. Back in 1997 my wife our two infant daughters and I arrived in Massachusetts from our home island of Puerto Rico with very little, to start our American dream. Since then we have worked hard every day to achieve our dream. We began in the town of Northampto

n and moved around the Hampshire County upgrading our life year after year. We worked hard every day and with our family growing to now three girls we searched for our home. 14 years ago we accomplished the dream of owning our first home in the beautiful City of Easthampton. The city captured everything we were looking for; we had fallen in love with the town and the community. Being in such a close and welcoming community, we wanted to get involved with the community as much as possible. We got involved with our daughters sports events and school activities, events in the community, and becoming a big part of the parks community running the snack shack. Our commitment to the youth, sports, and the town of Easthampton motivated me to run for city council for precinct two. This position comes with a lot of responsibilities and commitments. Not only will I propose my ideas for projects, I also want to work right beside the future mayor and city council and help move Easthampton into the future, but most importantly work with the members in our city of Easthampton. New school project
I think we need a new building because the building used today isn't the best for young children or hardworking staff and the cost of school is not an expense, but an investment. As the cost can impact some of which I represent. I will be working to see that way the economic impact is minor. Having a good school system is imperative for our community to grow and improve our local economy. Bring more business to Easthampton:

I'm a big believer in local business and how local business can improve and promote towns. The events we hold in our city generate many people, such as the culture chaos or when we held the fireworks, the tournaments held in Nonotuck park and many other events, this helps improve the local business and local taxes which help make it possible to make improvements to our city. The need of going green:

The town has a good start on the solar farm but I think we can do much more. Solar trash compactors, make our local municipal buildings green. Involve our town in getting electric car charges which can generate people with electric cars going on trips a place to stop and enjoy the town. Team up with Riverside and create a recycling project with us and their members. Improve our roads with the new and affordable ways. Learn from our community towns and share ideas from our neighbors, like the town of Greenfield who have worked together to create a greener town. http://goinggreen.recorder.com/2017/01/03/greenfield-surpasses-goal-reduce-energy-use/. https://ssl.gstatic.com/ui/v1/icons/mail/images/cleardot.gif

Our local government

I also want to make the city a city that has complete transparency with policies, hiring, contracts, hiring and other needs. We can work on how we deliver this information to all of Easthampton residence. Thank you for taking the time on reading my page, if elected I look forward on working for you. Respectfully,
Homar Gomez
