๐ŸŽจโœจ Exciting new public art in Easthampton! โœจ๐ŸŽจ

If youโ€™ve driven by 50 Payson Avenue lately, you may have spotted artist Amy Johnquest hard at work on a brand new utility box mural! ๐Ÿ–Œ๏ธ๐ŸŒˆ

A Pioneer Valley mixed-media artist, Johnquest is known for her bold, vintage-inspired artwork that blends circus, sideshow, and folk-art influences into colorful public installations throughout New England. This newest mural revisits the same corner where she first painted her celebrated โ€œElectric!โ€ utility box mural back in 2015 โ€” bringing fresh creativity and whimsy back to downtown Easthampton once again. Thanks Amy!! ๐Ÿ’ซ

In case you missed it, check out the ECC's 2026 Class of Grantees!

This was a historic year for the ECC with a record 78 applications for funding. Of these, we were able to award a total of $16,700.00 to 33 projects and events that will take place in Easthampton throughout 2026.

The volunteers on the ECCโ€™s board work towards bringing funding into Easthampton to make quality cultural programming more accessible. Our programming is intended to benefit the Easthampton community, and further the diversity in Easthamptonโ€™s programming in the arts, humanities, and interpretive sciences.

P.S.
If the above description interests you, we're looking to grow our board with new members!

YOUR EASTHAMPTON CULTURAL COUNCIL NEEDS NEW MEMBERS

Looks like a great summer ahead in Easthampton with lots of interesting and exciting events! The Easthampton Cultural Council has sponsored 33 of these events in 2026 using the funds we received from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

Would you like to decide which events to sponsor in 2027 and beyond? We need new members to join the Easthampton Cultural Council and make decisions.

Hereโ€™s how it works: to enrich cultural activities throughout Massachusetts, each city and town in the state is awarded funds from the Massachusetts Cultural Council. To decide which local events and activities to sponsor, local cultural councils review applications and divide up the funds their council receives.

In Easthampton, we have nine members of the council and must have a quorum of fourmembers present to hold monthly meetings. These meetings typically take less than an hour except when we are making grant decisions. Cultural council members volunteer for a period of up to three years. Come this September, the majority of Council members will see their terms run out.

So, we are actively recruiting new members to take our place. We invite you to attend one of our meetings and learn more about our process. Please comment here or send a message if you would like to attend a meeting. We would like to answer any questions and introduce you to our process.
