Sacred Souls Doula

Sacred Souls Doula I'm a certified doula, placenta encapsulator, BRM Pro, and EC teacher. How can I serve you? I love hiking, biking, and exploring the wonders of the world.

Besides being a wife, mother, certified birth doula, placenta encapsulator, and birth nerd, I love Jesus and my church family. I almost always have an itch to travel and I have a desire to read way more books than I have the time to read. I love learning and celebrating life for the large and small things. I believe life is sacred and that things matter. I hope to serve my community in a way that paves the way for a return to mother-centered and led birth.

As I am packing up boxes and selling SO many things we have had around the last 5 years, I have been reflecting on so much, and one of the things I have enjoyed the most has been my community here. My reflection reminded me that there is still one Birth Story Circle happening before I depart, and for this one, we have a physical therapist from Leavenworth coming to share her birth stories and how she supports pregnant and postpartum women with her PT support. Come meet Nicole Bulow:

Nicole is a wife, mom, and pelvic floor physical therapist in Leavenworth. Nicole is going to share her birth journeys and about what she offers to pregnant, birthing and postpartum mothers.

"As a life-long outdoor enthusiast and “endorphin junkie,” I founded SolFuel with a simple belief: everyone deserves a type of care that sees their whole story, not just a single injury. My journey into pelvic health physical therapy began in my own life. While pregnant and postpartum, I found myself with questions about my changing body, and no one had the answers I needed. This experience inspired me to create my own integrated, hands-on approach that treats the body as the interconnected system it is. My personal journey back to feeling stronger and more capable than ever before is a testament to the power of this approach."

I am hoping to see many of you regulars one last time, and I hope to see some new faces too that you may have had on your mind to invite. As always, the recordings for all of the birth stories that I get permission to post are on my web page under the "Events" page at www.sacredsoulsdoula.com.

Hi there WA friends and family. The Eddy's and Sacred Souls have some BIG news: we are moving to GA in June! This is very bittersweet and the most exciting adventure that we have been on as a family yet.

I was born in Wenatchee and to have served so many families in many different capacities in birthwork here, I am so grateful for each and every one of you. The bond and connection runs deep here and we happen to have some really true, authentic, deep friendships and family relationships that we will miss every moment we are gone from them.

Sacred Souls will be moving down there with me, and although on-call work will be on hold, I am praying to still impact that community down there with the same heart and soul and knowledge I have served families with here.

I would love to see many of you one last time. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me about getting together. You know I love you and would not want to miss that kind of an opportunity.

Oh boy, spring is upon us and there are so many babies to be born this next month or two. May will be a break month for Birth Story Circle and it will resume June 6th, same time and place. Keep a lookout for Emma's Birth story recording on my website under the Events page: www.sacredsoulsdoula.com

I hope you all can soak up that sunshine and hit a few trails. Tis the season! See you in June.

Montana is such a beautiful place to refresh and enjoy some time away with the family. Lots of babies being born in April, and I am really grateful to be a part of so many sacred moments this next month.

Where is your favorite place to get away from the normal grind and get refreshed?

EC is and has been such a special journey. I know we will be wrapping up in the next 5 months with Briel. I never knew it was possible until I jumped into it and found my first daughter taking herself to the potty and rarely missing by 16 months old. AND it has been the best thing ever.

If you are interested in learning, pm me. I would be happy to get you started.

Hey everyone! As February quickly comes to an end, I want to share the next Birth Story speakers with you: Eric and Cara Craw. These people are dear friends of mine with some big stories and a lot of faith, gentleness, endurance, patience, and love. They will be sharing Saturday, March 7th from 10-11:30 AM at Mullen Family Chiropractic. Invite a friend and gather with us to learn what birth and their Creator has taught them. Here is their bio:

"Hello, we are the Craw's! We have been married for 7 years, and have 3 wild, inquisitive, fantastic children. Eric is basically a Chelan native, having moved to the area when he was four. He now works IT for Lifeline Ambulance, but is often still found doing patient care. I ( Cara) am a stay at home mom and occasionally pick up shifts as an acute care nurse in Brewster. I have dreams of someday going back to school to become an advanced practice  nurse midwife. I've lived in Washington for nearly ten years now and am just as much in love with the snow as I was the first time... We have had numerous miscarriages  on the way to our three children; Zackery (5), Elise (3), and Daniel (8 months) and three very different pregnancies and births. One super speed highly medicalized hospital birth, one calm laid back birth center birth, and one start/stop to turbo speed birth center birth. I feel like I have learned so much about birth and postpartum through these experiences and am looking forward to sharing, including some fun God stories as well."

The month of February, our previously announced speaker, Christina, was busy with birthwork. In her place, Maggie Cooper shared her three hospital birth stories, including a redemptive VBAC and how doula and other birth support played a huge role in her success. You can listen to the playback here: https://www.sacredsoulsdoula.com/s-projects-side-by-side

It is February and many of you have been eagerly wondering if Christina Stout is truly sharing her birth stories this month. The answer is... Yes!!

Come join us on Saturday, February 7th from 10-11:30 am at Mullen Family Chiropractic for a hospital and honebirth story from one of our very own local midwives.

Here is her bio:

Christina is a licensed midwife who provides extensive pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care for families in Central Washington. She lives in Twisp with her husband, two children, and their dogs and will be sharing about her two vastly different birth experiences: a hospital birth after transfer and a free birth. With her personal and professional wisdom combined, these are some stories you won't want to miss!

Note: Christina is a midwife and does have clients due in the next week or two, so in the event that she is at a birth rather than with us, Birth Story Circle will be rescheduled or cancelled this month. I will post updates on my Instagram page.

The placenta has enough facts and amazing features about it that brilliantly and wisely protect, nurture, and maintain life for the baby in utero and right after birth. Most placenta are sent to the lab right after birth, preserved with formaldehyde, and either tested or sold for a lot of money. This is such a shame!

At Sacred Souls Doula, we see the placenta as sacred and something to honor, just as we see the mother, baby, pregnancy and birth as sacred and to be honored. Placenta prints (as shown above) are one way we accomplish this. Other ways include capsules, tinctures for depression, mood disorders, pms, and menopause, and cord keepsakes. Some people just keep it to bury it. Regardless of what you do with your placenta post-birth, honor it. And take it home, even if it's just to discard it in your own way. No reason to have the hospital make profit off of it and still charge you the same hospital bill.
