Town of Waterboro

Town of Waterboro Welcome to the Town of Waterboro, a community that is family & business friendly! This page is the official page for the Town of Waterboro Government.

With a population of 7,936 people, Waterboro is a part of the Portland–South Portland–Biddeford, Maine metropolitan area. In addition to the largest development in southern Maine, Lake Arrowhead Community, the town’s districts also includes that of North, South, and East Waterboro. Founded in 1787, Waterboro’s land was largely suited for livestock grazing and agriculture; catalyzing the growth of

a homestead industry, ensuing several cattle and dairy farms. Serving as a branch to development, in 1871, the Portland and Rochester Railroad passed through Waterboro, allowing previous unavailable connection(s) to Rochester and New Hampshire. Covering 564 acres, Little Ossipee Lake has directed Waterboro into a thriving and popular recreational town, for both its residents and vacationers. Known not just for it waterways, the town is also home to one of the largest and well-maintained pitch pine barrens throughout the entire State of Maine. Covering 2,140 acres, the Waterboro Barrens provides picturesque scenery, trails and wildlife. This once small-town is on the forefront of a rapid growth, complemented by unpretentious residents and hard-working business owners, many serving as pillars to Waterboro’s unmatched communal link. Any content deemed in violation of the town’s social media guidelines will be removed. The town reserves the right to remove any and all comments and or posts that are inappropriate in nature.
