In the late Winter, Park Rangers clean and survey bird boxes maintained for brooding wood ducks. Although, pictured beow is a partially unsuccesussful nest with obvious unhatched eggs, most every other nest surveyed was successful with only egg fragments.

Union Village Summer Recreation Season is over. Picnic tables will be stored for the winter, Bathrooms will be closed and Gates to the Dam, Buzzell Bridge Road, and the West Branch Access will remain closed until next summer when we plan to open for recreation season on Memorial Day weekend. In the meantime, enjoy pedestrian, Biking, and winter VAST access to the trails and roads. Thanks!

Attention: Starting August 14th Union Village Dam will be open more hours.
The Main Gate access to The Dam, Picnic Shelter and Flagpole will be open Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holiday Mondays 8:00 am- 7:30pm.

Buzzell Bridge Road will be accessible only from Rt 113 and OPEN Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holiday Mondays 8:00am- 7:30pm.
Buzzell Bridge Road will be drivable only to the Forest Management Trail parking lot. No through traffic past this point due to road washout.

The West Branch Road will be OPEN Friday, Saturday, Sunday & Holiday Mondays 8:00- 7:00pm.

All gates CLOSED Monday- Thursday. Outer parking lots will remain open 7 days a week providing pedestrian and cycling access.
The last day of our recreation season is Labor Day, September 1st.

Park Rangers came together from around the Upper Connecticut River Basin to release apple trees from an encoraching pine woodland and preserve a historic orchard above the West Branch of the Ompompanoosuc River. Thank you U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, North Springfield Lake and U.S. Army Corps Ball Mountain Dam for your help getting these trees safely to the ground and bringing light to these much loved apple trees.
