We are exactly one month out from our annual fly-in event. We do our best to get interesting attractions, invite fellow aviators to fly in from all corners of the state and improve upon things from past events.

This year we are pleased to welcome FlightCare who will be flying their helicopter up from My Michigan Hospital in Saginaw.

We are also pleased to welcome the U.S. Coast Guard out of Tawas Point. They will have their 25 foot rescue boat on display.

I received approval from the events coordinator at the Pentagon to have an Army helicopter on the field from the Grand Ledge Air National Guard. We are still firming up the details in scheduling and hope to hear back from them soon.

As always, parking and admission are free and there is no requirement to purchase a breakfast although I’m not sure why you’d want to miss out on that. It’s all you can eat pancakes and eggs with a serving of sausage. Adults $10; children ages 5 to 12 are $5 and kids under 4 years old eat for free.

Please let our parking attendants know if you have any special mobility needs and they’ll do their best to assist you.

This is a rain or shine event. If the skies are clear and the winds are reasonable we expect to see 50 or more airplanes.

Yesterday's photo of the c**t was horrible as I shot it through the window of the mower with my phone at quite a distance. I saw them out there again today and took my Nikon out there.

There’s still some white left to paint over the white primer, but I’m really liking the new look.

Paul and his son flew their Cessna 180 from our field in May and are currently living the dream in Alaska. It’s a plane he brought back from Alaska last year. I’m hoping to share more photos of their adventure.

This morning was the first time I’ve ever seen a c**t on the field. Sand Hill Cranes are often seen on the airport property, but I’ve never seen there young until today.

Our airport will once again host a Household Hazardous Waste Event on Saturday, September 12th. The event runs from 9:00am to 1:00pm.

There will be more information to come. You will be required to pre-register for an arrival time in an attempt to limit long wait times.

Common Categories and Examples:

-Cleaning Products: Bleach, ammonia, oven cleaners, drain cleaners, and rust removers.

-Automotive Fluids: Motor oil, antifreeze, brake fluid, and gasoline.

-Home & Garden: Pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and pool chemicals.

Paints & Solvents: Oil-based paints, paint thinners, wood st*****rs, and glues.

This year they will also be collecting tires, although there will be a limit.

Let's help keep these products out of our drains and landfills.
