How about that!

It was officially announced today that the Delaware River was named Pennsylvania's River of the Year!!! T The Delaware River secured the most votes in a public competition held by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) and the Pennsylvania Organization for Waterways and Rivers (POWR). All the details can be found in the press release on the DCNR website under newsroom. Brodhead Creek Heritage Center will be closed beginning at noon today as we celebrate Christmas and Hanukkah. We will reopen Thursday, December 26th at 9:00AM. Sign up for an on-site bird research experience happening here at the preserve tomorrow, Sunday June 23 and again on Tuesday, June 25. Enjoy this unique opportunity to experience hands-on research and learn about the great variety of birds who call this preserve their home!

4-H BEE classes! Great way to celebrate No Mow May! :) first 4-H class is May 8th. Register youngsters 8-18 now for these fun and informative classes! 🐝

Are you interested in learning about bees and how they produce their honey and wax? What kind of plants attract the bees and what equipment does a beekeeper need? What kind of pests or diseases can affect a hive?

Children ages 8-18 can join the 4-H Beekeeping Club at the Middle Smithfield Township Community Gardens Park, hosted by the Penn State Extension-Monroe County 4-H. Meetings are monthly at the MST Community Gardens Park at 989 Coolbaugh Road, East Stroudsburg from 9am to 10am. If you have or know a child between ages 8 and 18, this could be a great experience for them. For more information, please see attached and below.

The club costs $20 for current 4-H members, or $50 for new members, which includes 4-H enrollment fee and a club t-shirt.

The gallery at the Brodhead Creek Heritage Center at ForEvergreen Nature Preserve in East Stroudsburg is looking for artists to fill our April 2024 slot as well as to begin planning the 2025 schedule.

Nature-inspired art in any medium is welcomed!

Exhibiting artists are offered a one-month time slot and an opening reception event free of charge; a 20% commission will be collected only on any items sold.

Our Story

Brodhead Creek Heritage Center - a natural hub of community life. Located at the ForEvergreen Nature Preserve, which is free and open to the public dawn to dusk every day. Small museum display featuring history of flyfishing, eagle/raptors, the flood of 1955 and a relief map of Monroe County. Nesting pair of eagles are a bonus! Two non-profits have offices inside: Pocono Heritage Land Trust and Brodhead Watershed Association.
