We would like to extend a humble thank you to everyone that showed up yesterday. Yesterday was no small task, and when we called for help, everyone showed up in force, with numbers, ready to work, and that’s exactly what happened with excellent teamwork.

We are reminded yet again how lucky we are to have exemplary mutual aid companies everywhere. Not just next to our coverage area, and not even just in Monroe County.

We truly appreciate every agency and individual that came out to help us.

If the possibility of doing this even peaks your interest in the slightest, go down to your local volunteer fire department today. Departments across all counties continue to look for motivated volunteers to answer the call. Make a difference in your community today.

Yesterday was a busy day for your ACME Hose Company #1/ ESFD Volunteers.

The day started bright and early for several members. 21-Engine-2, 21-Rescue/Engine-1, and Tower 21 arrived at East Stroudsburg South High School bright and early to set up for the annual rain rally in coordination with The Special Olympics. Our members got out and had the privilege of spending the day with many of our community at the event, even running with the kids through the rain! We had so much fun, and cannot wait for next year’s Rain Rally already!

As that was going on, several of our members attended the Wildland Fire Training Academy at Shippensburg University hosted by Dcnr Bureau of Forestry. Our very own, Firefighter Josiah Wagener is a lead instructor at the academy. Members who attended have completed their S-130 requirements, making them a Firefighter Type II. Some members are currently continuing to complete the academy to obtain their Firefighter Type I, amongst participating in several other courses. This training is essential to ensure that our members are ready for any and all incidents in our and neighboring coverage areas. We would like to thank Shippensburg University and DCNR for hosting a wonderful academy this year.

Shortly after the Rain Rally concluded, at 1307 hours, Station 21 was dispatched to the 200 block of Analomink Street for a reported Residential Structure Fire. 21-Rescue/Engine-1 responded within 2 minutes of dispatch with a full crew. Crew arrived on scene to find that a small fire had been extinguished prior to arrival. Crews investigated to ensure the fire was properly put out. Station 21 cleared the incident at 1320.

Today was a busy day for your ACME Hose Company #1/ ESFD Volunteers.

At 0717 this morning, Station 21 was dispatched to the 200 block of East Brown Street for a reported Commercial Fire Alarm. Automatic Fire Alarm was set off from heat coming from a dryer. The Alarm panel was reset and Station 21 cleared at 0728.

At 1000 hours, members reported to the Station to begin setting up for our annual clock drawing! Members worked hard setting up and working the event. We had a wonderful time seeing many members of our community! As always, we humbly thank everyone for their support and participation. 21-Rescue/Engine-1 was staffed as the designated response engine throughout the entirety of event.

As the clock drawing was ongoing, several members along with 21-Engine-2 reported to Monroe County Training Facility to attend class in preparation for their Firefighter 1 Exam. We are very proud of their continued commitment to ensure they are mission ready for the community! After the conclusion of class, 21-Engine-2 remained staffed as the clock drawing was wrapping up.

We would like to thank our beloved community for their support and amazing turnout to the event. We hope all in attendance had a lovely time, and we hope to see you all soon! Attached below is the board of winners from today’s raffle! Congratulations to all!

This past weekend, two of our members completed their initial Hazmat Operations Training, as part of their Essentials to Firefighting Academy held at Monroe County Training Facility. Their hard work and commitment does not go unnoticed. Completing this 32 hour program within Essentials to Firefighting puts them over the hump, as they are now in Module 3, exterior firefighting.

Once they complete module 3, they will finish the program with Module 4, interior firefighting, and a live Burn Session to complete the academy, making them Interior firefighters.
