Movie Night is coming to Royal Giants Park. Join us on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. for a showing of Encanto as we continue celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month.

Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy an evening outdoors with neighbors, friends and family. Concessions will be available.

And mark your calendar for our next Movie Night. We’ll be back Friday, Oct. 16, at 8 p.m. with a showing of Coco. The Movie Night location is Royal Giants Park located at 200 Robinson Road Salisbury, NC 28144.

With a lot of conversations about Flock cameras in the news recently, it seemed an appropriate time to talk with residents about the license plate cameras in town. Police Chief Fewell takes a few minutes to update residents on the way the cameras work and are used locally and the policy for use for his department.

Beginning today, Tuesday, Sept. 15, the East Spencer Fire Department will conduct routine fire hydrant maintenance throughout town. Residents may see Fire Department personnel working around hydrants in neighborhoods. This routine maintenance helps ensure hydrants remain ready and accessible when needed.

This second interview, on the 25th anniversary of 9-11, is with Chief Fleming, East Spencer’s fire chief, who was actually at Ground Zero that day working with the federal government. Both Fleming and Fewell have spent a lifetime dedicated to serving the citizens of America and of small towns. Here’s what Chief Fleming had to say.

Reflecting on September 11, 2001 25 years later, we took a minute to talk with East Spencer’s leading first responders, Police Chief John Fewell and Fire Chief Rick Fleming. On 9-11, firefighters and police and emergency personnel rushed in to the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and to a field in Pennsylvania, to render aid, to offer rescue when possible, and to do all they could to prevent more harm. Today, our first responders here in East Spencer share the same level of dedication. This first interview is with Chief Fewell.
