As our community continues to remember and honor Councilman Jacky Cagle, the City of East Ridge shares the following funeral arrangements provided by his family.

The family will receive friends at Chattanooga Funeral Home East on Wednesday, September 16th, from 4:00pm until 8:00pm, and on Thursday, September 17th, from 11:00am until 12:00pm.

Funeral services will begin at 12:00pm on Thursday, September 17th.

The City continues to extend its heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Jacky’s wife, Donna, their family, and all those mourning this tremendous loss.

The Tennessee Legislature passed Senate Bill 1712 during their last session which allows for "flags flown on municipal property to be lowered to half-staff to honor the death of a prominent citizen of that municipality."

We can think of no person more deserving to be the first East Ridge citizen recognized under the statute than Councilman Jacky Cagle. In accordance with that statute and to honor his nearly 50 years of service to our community, flags at all City-owned facilities will be flown at half-staff from now until sunset on Thursday, September 17.

We are overwhelmed by the loss of Council Member Jacky Cagle. For the past 10 years, I had the privilege of serving alongside Jacky. Over those years, Jacky became more than a fellow Council Member and colleague, he was a friend and someone who truly cared about East Ridge and the people who call our community home.

During our years serving together, we shared countless meetings, conversations, decisions, challenges, successes, and many memorable moments along the way. When you serve alongside someone for that many years, you get to know the person behind the title, and I will always be grateful for the friendship Jacky and I shared.

East Ridge has lost a dedicated public servant, and I have lost a longtime colleague and friend. His presence will certainly be missed at City Hall and throughout our community.

Please keep Donna and the entire Cagle family close in your hearts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. May they find strength and comfort in knowing how much Jacky meant to so many people and how deeply he will be missed.

It is with profound sadness that the City of East Ridge announces the passing of Councilman Jacky Cagle.

For nearly half a century, Jacky dedicated his life to serving the people of East Ridge first as a City employee from 1976 to 2010 and later as a member of the East Ridge City Council from 2014 to 2026.

Through every chapter of his service, Jacky worked to leave East Ridge stronger and better than he found it. His dedication to our community, the relationships he built, and the legacy he leaves behind will not be forgotten.

Today, we pause to remember September 11, 2001—a day that forever changed our nation.

We honor the innocent lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless men and women whose lives were forever impacted by the events of that day.

Twenty-five years later, we remember not only the tragedy, but also the courage, sacrifice, compassion, and unity that followed. In our darkest hours, Americans stood together—helping neighbors, supporting strangers, and reminding the world of the strength of the American spirit.

May we never forget those we lost, always honor those who served and sacrificed, and continue to stand united as a nation.

Saturday was a great day for East Ridge! We officially celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of the East Ridge Community Center!

After years of planning, construction, renovations, and a tremendous amount of work behind the scenes, we were proud to reopen the doors to a facility that has been a special gathering place for generations of East Ridge families.

These renovations represent an important investment in our community, our families, and our future. From the beautifully renovated spaces to the expanded gymnasium, the Community Center is ready for its next chapter and many more years of serving East Ridge.

I want to thank our City Council, City staff, Parks & Recreation team, contractors, partners, and everyone who worked together to make this project a reality.

Most importantly, thank you to everyone in our community who came out Saturday to celebrate with us! We hope you will enjoy the facility, take advantage of everything it has to offer, and make many new memories here for generations to come.

Today we celebrated the Grand Re-Opening and Ribbon Cutting of our newly renovated Camp Jordan-East Ridge Canoe Launches.

These improvements provide enhanced access to South and West Chickamauga Creeks, creating new opportunities for paddling, outdoor recreation, environmental education, and exploring one of our region's most valuable natural resources.
