This time of year is especially susceptible to brush fires.

🔥 🔥 Reminder: there is a New York State annual statewide residential brush burning ban is currently in effect, running from March 16 through May 14, 2026. The ban prohibits burning brush, sticks, and debris to prevent wildfires during the high-risk spring season 🔥🚒

We know it’s cold.

When removing ashes from your home or fire pits be sure to place them in a metal or fireproof container and away from wood decking.

Ashes can remain hot for several days and burn through non fireproof containers causing fires outside your home.

On this frigid day EQFD would like to thank our own dedicated volunteers as well as mutual aid agencies Westhampton Beach FD, Flanders FD, Hampton Bays FD, Quogue FD, Riverhead FD, Southampton FD, East Moriches Ambulance for their assistance putting out a major fire today. It takes a village on days like today!









Another huge thank you to East Quogue Pizza Deli and Goldbergs for their donation of food and warm drinks for our members. We appreciate you!!

911 is for emergencies only!

Please keep your driveways and entry steps as clear as possible.

Keep house numbers visible so we can find you.

Use caution shoveling heavy snow and limit road travel to emergency only.

Most importantly, if there is a fire hydrant on your property please consider keeping it clear of snow. We cannot use hydrants buried in snow without a delay.
