The East Providence School Committee approved RIDE’s waiver of two snow days at last night’s meeting. As a result, the last day of school has been moved to Wednesday, June 17.

Sometimes the best ideas start with a challenge… and a team of student leaders ready to solve it.

Our librarian recently brought a dilemma to the Whiteknact Anchor Council and asked for their creative problem-solving support. The dilemma? Our library is overflowing with books. As our librarian continues to keep our collection exciting, engaging, and relevant for students, she naturally needs to make room for new titles.

But the “weeded” books still have plenty of life left in them… just not on our library shelves.

So, the council came together to think about what they could do with these books so they could continue to be enjoyed. That’s when the idea for the Anchor Book Rescue was born! 🛟

Through the Anchor Book Rescue, these books are given a second chance to be discovered, enjoyed, and loved in new homes. Students and families are invited to browse the collection and “rescue” a book to take home and keep.
