This week's traffic study graphic is from Fort Street. Particularly between South Broadway and Lyon Avenue. Speeds are slightly higher than reasonable and the area will continue to be monitored by officers.

To quell some misinformation, the Traffic Unit uses a device that collects data from pressure readings in the roadway. The data provided is a good representation of the vehicle traffic and speeds. Video images, still photographs, and license plate readers are not used nor are they part of traffic studies.

We will continue to conduct traffic studies and enforcement throughout the city. Please take it slow and obey the traffic laws.

Today, we join together as a community to honor and remember the lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001. We will never forget the bravery and sacrifice of the first responders and civilians who gave everything that day. Please join the East Providence Police Department as we reflect on this significant day in our history.

Earlier today we were honored to provide Lisa, from The Tomorrow Fund, the proceeds from our 4th Annual Cops & Rodders car show. We hope this can help your organization's mission by helping young cancer patients and their families.

Also present was Dan and his crew from moo.com. Their partnership has made this event a success year after year! Thank you! You are a great community partner!

Thanks to all that participated and made donations. See you next year!

Speeding and other motor vehicle complaints are some of the most common concerns from our community members. The East Providence Police Department conducts traffic studies in areas that have an increased number of complaints or motor vehicle crashes. Members of our Traffic Unit use data to help identify and address these issues to help correct driver behavior. Uniformed members will continue to aggressively focus on our roadways throughout the city to address these citizen concerns. Check out the most recent data collected from Shore Road in the Riverside section of the city. This side street connects Bullocks Point Avenue to heavily populated residential areas and a popular waterfront park.
