The Commission held our annual Boyden Heights cove cleanup this morning. Lots of plastic bottles of all types this year, more than usual! Seven bags of stuff were collected along with other various flotsam and jetsam. Thanks to the DPW Recycling Division for their support!

REMINDER: We will be having our Earth Day cleanup this Saturday morning (4/18) at 9am at Boyden Heights!

The Commission generally meets outdoors in July to do trail maintenance. This time, we water-sealed the steps and boardwalks at the beginning of the Hunts Mills trail. Came out nice, and will help keep it in good shape. Thank you to Ernie, Kelsey and John!

From the Planning Department collection, here are photos that we could find of the short-lived Boyden Heights Amusement Park which operated very briefly sometime starting around 1901. This area is now the Boyden Heights neighborhood and Boyden Heights Conservation Area off of Pawtucket Avenue across from Bayview Academy.

Small but mighty group for our annual Boyden Heights Conservation Area clean-up!

Earth Day may have been a while ago, but our annual clean-up at the Boyden Heights Conservation Area is still coming up, this Saturday May 3rd! We’ll work on the beach area near the Bike Path (just south of the little bridge below the Squantum Club) and the nearby cove depending on the tide. We’ve made a big difference here over the years. Feel free to join us! Rain or shine.
Parking is near the end of Boyden Blvd, then a short hike downhill to the water. The weather doesn’t look great, but any rain looks light and intermittent at worst.
We’ll be there at 9:00 am. We usually finish up by 11:00.

The Conservation Commission offers heartfelt thanks to James Boyd for 19 years on our Commission. Jim has been a major contributor as our longtime secretary, regulatory and environmental expert, outdoor handyman with every tool imaginable, and all-around great guy. Tonight was Jim’s final meeting with us. Best wishes, Jim; we hope to see you out on the trails!
