East Providence City Workers - USW Local 15509 - East Providence, RI The members of the United Steelworkers Local 15509 are employed by the City of East Providence If you see us out there, say hello!

We are laborers, auto and heavy equipment operators, facility maintainers, landscape artists, groundskeepers, dispatchers, clerks, animal control officers, library aids, water utility workers, street sweepers, asphalt layers, snow plowers and so much more! We work hard to build, repair, maintain, and preserve almost every aspect of the City, we serve the community with pride, and many of us are townies as well!

Congratulations to our member David Messinger! After almost 26 years in Dispatch/Emergency Communications, he has retired. He had a great career with many commendations and earned the respect of those on both sides of the radio. A calm voice when calling for help, he’s touched the lives of countless people in East Providence. Thank you for your service to the city Dave and have a long, happy, healthy retirement!
