City Council Meeting Highlights | September 1, 2026
Here’s a quick look at some of the actions and updates from the latest East Palo Alto City Council meeting:
City Priorities Moving Forward
The Council received an update on its two-year work plan, with 15 projects completed and many more underway, including street and park lighting, housing programs, pedestrian improvements, water infrastructure, and emergency preparedness.
430 Affordable Homes Move Forward
The Council unanimously approved an important step for the proposed 430-unit, 100% affordable housing development at 2120–2160 Euclid Avenue. The developer also agreed to make nine additional units affordable at a lower income level.
Bell Street Park & Emergency Access
The Council selected an emergency fire access option for the Euclid Avenue housing project designed to minimize impacts to Bell Street Park. Replacement trees are planned, with efforts to preserve mature trees where possible.
Residential Parking Study — No Permit Program Yet
The Council approved a study of residential parking conditions throughout East Palo Alto. The City is not starting a residential permit parking program at this time. The study will collect data and community input to help the Council decide whether and how a program should move forward in the future.
Other Council Actions
The Council also took action on water system improvements, Police Department patrol vehicles, the quarterly Treasury Report, and proclamations recognizing Latino Culture and History Month, National Su***de Prevention Month, Mr. N.J. Johnson’s 100th birthday, and Royce Keys Day.
