Coming this fall is the yearly trapping workshop held this year on October 31st and November 1st.

If you or your children have any interest in learning how to trap this workshop will teach all about the history of trapping, trapping regulations, and even get to go into the field to learn more about trapping from knowledgeable instructors.

Wildlife biologists use public reports of wild turkeys submitted in August to estimate population statuses and reproductive success. Observers of wild turkeys are asked to report the number of gobblers, hens, and young turkeys (poults) seen. Community scientists are asked to record the date and county where the observation occurred and include as many details as possible with each report.

Similar surveys are conducted by other states throughout the wild turkey’s range. Information submitted to Ohio’s surveys helps predict future population changes, estimate brood success, and guide management decisions.
