Kindergarten students in Krista Meyers and Brianna Leoutsakos’ classes at Wood Park Primary School joined together Friday morning for a special lesson centered on inclusion and communication.

The young learners explored Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices, gaining an understanding of how some of their peers use these tools to express themselves.

During the collaborative activity, the students read The Very Hungry Caterpillar aloud using an AAC device. Each child had the opportunity to practice using the technology to better understand how it functions. Following the story, the students created their own caterpillars out of Play-Doh, sharing their unique creations with one another in a collaborative setting.

Last week Commack Varsity Cheerleading had the honor of hosting the Section XI Game Day Competition! We couldn't be prouder of our Varsity Cheerleading team for bringing incredible energy, skill, and heart to the mat.

Curriculum Associate for Teaching and Learning Dr. Jennifer Santorello, Public Relations Director Brett Malamud and Senior Office Applications Specialist Rachel Schettini presented Thursday morning in Holtsville to a room of more than 25 neighboring districts on how the district is working with ParentSquare to enhance communication between staff, parents and students. The ParentSquare team was on hand to discuss how Commack has reimagined communications in school districts utilizing the ParentSquare platform, and Smart Sites district website.
