Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation and our freedom.

Their courage and service will never be forgotten.

It has been an incredibly difficult week for first responders across the State of Maine. Our hearts are heavy as public safety agencies throughout our state navigate these challenging times.

We ask that you please keep all of our emergency personnel — law enforcement, fire, EMS, dispatchers, wardens, and all those who answer the call to serve — along with their families, in your thoughts and prayers.

Behind every uniform is a person, a family, and a community that feels these losses deeply. In moments like these, we are reminded that the first responder family is one built on courage, sacrifice, and unwavering support for one another.

Please continue to lift up all of those serving and protecting our communities as they work through these difficult days together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with our colleagues at the Maine Warden Service as they mourn the heartbreaking loss of one of their own following today’s plane crash.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow Game Wardens during this incredibly difficult time. The loss of a dedicated public servant is felt across the entire law enforcement community, and we stand with them in grief and support.

Please keep all those affected in your thoughts as they navigate this unimaginable loss.

We are heartbroken to share that a Maine Game Warden died this morning following a plane crash in Avon, near Schoolhouse Pond. The crash occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m.

This is a devastating loss for the Maine Warden Service, our Department, and the people of Maine. Our thoughts are with the family, loved ones, colleagues, and all those impacted by this tragedy.

We will share additional information as it becomes available.

Another update on our Cadet program with SRO Porfido.

Where future officers discover that running in boots is a personality trait, not a choice.

PT starts bright and early—because nothing builds character like questioning your life decisions at 6 a.m. while doing push-ups on pavement that somehow feels colder than the air. The instructors say it’s about “mental toughness,” but the cadets are pretty sure it’s also about seeing who can do jumping jacks without making that weird out-of-breath dolphin noise.

There’s always that one cadet who counts sit-ups way too fast:
“1, 2, 7, 12, 20…”

Nice try. The instructor’s been around longer than your math skills.

Then comes the run. Half the group takes off like they’re chasing a suspect, and the other half looks like they are the suspect… being chased… slowly. By the end, everyone’s bargaining:
“I’ll write perfect reports forever if I can just walk this last hill.”

Welcome to the East Millinocket cadet program—where the workouts are tough, the jokes are questionable, and quitting is not an option (mostly because the instructor is still watching).

Another day. Another scam attempt.
