September is National Service Dog Awareness Month! 🐾 We're celebrating the incredible service dogs who help make everyday life more accessible, independent, and empowering for the people they support. 💙

For people living with epilepsy and seizure disorders, service dogs offer more than support. They provide safety, independence, and unconditional companionship, helping individuals navigate daily life with greater confidence and peace of mind.

Their training, loyalty, and unwavering commitment help open doors, build confidence, and create greater opportunities for independence every day.

🐕‍🦺 If you see a service dog in public, remember they're working. Giving them space to focus is one of the best ways to support both the dog and their handler.

In partnership with the NYS Deaf/Blind Collaborative, Harmony Health Care Community Health Centers, and organizations serving Hispanic communities, we are expanding access to epilepsy education, awareness, support, and resources for diverse and underserved populations. We’re honored to be part of PHI’s first-ever poster presentation session showcasing community impact and collaboration! 💜

EPIC was proud to have our clinicians, Kate McCusker and Samantha Quince, represent our organization at the Uniondale International Unity in the Community Day Back-to-School Event, hosted by the

Held at Cornelius Court Elementary School, this vibrant community celebration brought together families, local organizations, and residents for an afternoon of unity, culture, and support. The event featured free backpacks, school supplies, lunch bags, live entertainment, cultural performances, food vendors, games, raffles, and valuable community resources to help students start the school year strong.

Kate and Samantha enjoyed connecting with families, sharing information about EPIC's services, and highlighting the importance of accessible mental health and family support resources in our community.

🕯️ Today, on International Overdose Awareness Day, we remember, reflect, and stand together.

We honor the lives lost to overdose, support the families and friends carrying the weight of that loss, and celebrate the courage and resilience of those in recovery. 💜

Substance use disorder can affect anyone. It does not discriminate by age, background, or community. By choosing compassion over judgment and understanding over stigma, we can help create pathways to hope, healing, and recovery.

💡 Together, we can:
✨ Remember those we've lost and keep their memories alive.
✨ Support individuals and families impacted by substance use.
✨ Promote access to prevention, treatment, recovery, and mental health services.
✨ Break the stigma by speaking openly and compassionately about addiction and recovery.

Tonight, consider lighting a candle in remembrance of those no longer with us and as a symbol of hope for everyone still navigating their recovery journey.
