Borough of East McKeesport

Borough of East McKeesport This page is a way to get information out to our residents in a more efficient manner. The principle owners of the land in 1892 were:
1. James Carson
2.

Early records show East McKeesport as being part of a tract called "Scanderoon" an indian name. It was said the indians gave the names of their warriors to various tracts of land. Title research shows ownership of the land dating back to 1804 and that it was part of Westmoreland county before the formation of Allegheny County. East McKeesport, the east end of McKeesport was named after the McKees

family, pioneers in the area. Sarah McClure
3. Edward Taylor
4. Henry Taylor

When East McKeesport was just starting out it was called the up and coming place to be. We had a hotel, amusement park, a trolley going down the middle of Broadway, schools, our own baseball team and houses popping up everywhere. It was the place to live at that time. Our little town has come a long way since 1895 and will prosper as the years go on.

Attention Residents!

We are having issues with trash being left on the curb and not placed properly within trash receptacles, which is required by Borough Ordinance. It is important to place trash in a secure receptacle to limit litter and prevent bags from being opened by wildlife. This keeps the Borough clean and wildlife and residents alike safe. Garbage kills wildlife.

Starting next Friday, the Borough will be issuing citations to ALL RESIDENTS not in compliance. Please, secure your trash and put it in receptacles.

With today being Memorial Day, we wanted to recognize and honor all the brave service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice for the everyday freedoms we sometimes take for granted. Their sacrifice reminds us that nothing is given, it is earned through dedication to something greater than any single individual. We thank these heroes and all active-duty service members for their continued sacrifice and dedication.

Hey All,
Summer is right around the corner, and for us here in East McKeesport that means day camp! We have an awesome staff inbound as well a theme centered around world festivals in which our students get to explore the world through the cultures and how they celebrate. This camp only happens through the generosity, care, and passion of our supporters. We are well on our way to raising our goal of $12,000 to cover the cost of this years camp. This goes into providing meals, staff salary, housing expenses, activities, games, and all the other various things that it takes to run a camp. Would you be willing to invest into these kids and help us to expand their horizons, fall in love with other cultures, and travel the world through the context of our Summer Camp? If so, please click the link below, or send a check to Community Collective 1000 Broadway Ave. East McKeesport, PA 15035. Thank you all for your continued support!!!
