What would you do if you called 9-1-1 and no one showed up? Volunteer Firefighters play a crucial role in Emergency Response and Fire Protection in rural Maine. Rates of Volunteer Firefighters have dropped significantly over the years and is at an all time low. We need Firefighters now more than ever!

The Memorial Service for Chief Clinton “Peanut” Gardner Sr. will be held on Saturday May 1, 2021. Please join us to celebrate his life, and his over 70 remarkable years of service and dedication to the East Machias Fire Department. The service will begin at 1:00pm at the Jacksonville Cemetery in East Machias. The service will be preceeded by a procession of emergency vehicles leaving the East Machias Fire Station at 12:30pm.

Our new Bulldog Tanker/Wildland Truck responded to a recent Mutual Aid Call in Cutler for an escaped blueberry burn. The fire was contained. Cutler Volunteer Fire Dept., Cutler Navy Fire Department, and Maine Forest Rangers also responded.
