CBIA, Connecticut Business and Industry Association, has released its 2026 State Legislative Voting Records. My opponent, Nick Menapace, received a scorecard of just 58% on 12 key bills CBIA identified as critical to affordability, economic growth, and competitiveness. The excessively high cost of living and doing business in Connecticut, as compared to the rest of the country, can no longer be denied or ignored. The Towns of the 37th District, -East Lyme, Salem and Montville- and the entire state deserve legislative leaders who make affordability a priority and who will work to create greater opportunity and prosperity for all. REMINDER! Today is the first day of CT Sales Tax Free Week (8/16-8/22). This is a holiday from sales tax on certain items of clothing and footwear costing $300 or less. CT Department of Revenue Services provides details here: https://portal.ct.gov/drs/sales-tax/sales-tax-free-week. Please take advantage of the holiday as you can to save some dollars. --As a candidate for State Representative and a taxpayer, I am concerned, however, that this yearly offer for shoppers has become a substitute for much needed long-term tax relief. Our state sale taxes, along with our property taxes and income taxes have resulted in the third highest overall tax burden of any state in the country. In particular, our sales taxes apply to just about every item and service we purchase 52 weeks of the year—from a sandwich to go to your driveway sealing—well beyond the qualifying clothing and shoes we may be able to afford to buy in one week in August. As your State Representative, I will fight for meaningful tax relief!

It’s a short drive from East Lyme, and a great chance to enjoy a concert while meeting our East Lyme General Assembly candidates.
