The ELHS Student Section group, lead by Ms. Madelyn Zink, rekindled the Trojan mascot in 2025. In keeping with mascot traditions near and far, Lucia Hylen, accepted her diploma and “revealed” her role as Terry the Trojan. Thank you and congratulations, Luci. Go Trojans!

STATE CHAMPION. STATE RECORD HOLDER. 🔥

Congratulations to East Lansing High School freshman Cayla Hawkins on an incredible performance at the MHSAA Division 1 Track & Field State Finals! Cayla captured the Division 1 State Championship in the 400 Meter Dash with a time of 52.89 seconds, setting a new Division 1 State Record in the process.

What an outstanding accomplishment and a remarkable way to represent East Lansing.

Congratulations to Talent Together Apprentice Teacher Aaron Pfau on being named the 2026 National Apprentice of the Year by Apprenticeships for America!

East Lansing Public Schools is proud to celebrate Aaron for receiving this prestigious national recognition at the Apprenticeships for America National Summit in Washington, D.C., where he was honored in front of more than 1,000 attendees. https://mitalenttogether.org/aaron-pfau-2026-national-apprentice-of-the-year/

Aaron is currently completing his Registered Apprenticeship Program with ELPS while pursuing his Master of Arts in Education at Northern Michigan University. Throughout his journey, he has demonstrated exceptional dedication, resilience, professionalism, and a deep commitment to supporting students with special needs.

From serving as a paraprofessional to becoming a future special education teacher, Aaron’s path reflects the power of apprenticeship programs, strong mentorship, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of students.

We are grateful for Aaron’s contributions to our district and excited to see the impact he will continue to make in education.
