There’s been a lot of excitement in the MMS library for BookPalooza! 📚

Mrs. Pline, one of our English teachers, received a grant that brought 1,000 free books from the Junior Library Guild to MacDonald Middle School. That means every MMS student gets to browse the selection, pick out a brand-new book, and take it home to keep!

ELHS Community Band Night was an extra special one for the Konett family. ELHS Center Snare Lena Konett was joined by her siblings, Aliera (ELHS Class of 2016) and Xavier (ELHS Class of 2020), for a night that brought their family’s ELPS connections together.

And the Trojan ties don’t stop there! Mrs. Konett teaches science at MacDonald Middle School, Mr. Konett teaches at Red Cedar Elementary, and Xavier is back at Red Cedar as “Mr. X,” a superstar paraprofessional.

From ELPS students to alumni to staff, we love seeing a whole family come together through music and their East Lansing schools. 💙

Our students at Whitehills Elementary had a blast during the first week of school learning about their classrooms and getting to know one another! Teachers planned engaging activities to build community while setting clear expectations for the year.

In Mrs. Kemsley’s 3rd grade class, students tackled a teamwork challenge called "Saving Fred." They also curated a "Me Museum," bringing five special items from home to introduce themselves. Afterwards, classmates did a gallery walk, leaving sticky notes filled with connections, compliments, and wonders at each desk!

🌵 The Cactus Crew has moves!

Mrs. Laretz’s kindergarten class took a quick movement break to get their bodies moving and their brains ready to refocus. Movement breaks give students a chance to reset, recharge, and return to learning ready for what’s next.
