Great Lakes Learning Academy Our school uses the nationally recognized Connections Academy program, a proven core model of virtual learning.

Serving Michigan students in grades 6-12 with a full-time, tuition-free online public school and the kind of connection that helps kids grow into confident learners. We believe meaningful connections drive better academic outcomes, so we build a strong circle of support that unites students, families, and educators. We create a high-quality educational experience that helps keep students engaged i

n a safe learning environment. Beyond academics, our teachers focus on building fundamental life skills, partnering with families to help students learn how they learn best. Here, students gain the skills needed to thrive in the real world by becoming resourceful and resilient. In addition to a traditional middle and high school option, we offer an alternative high school option for students to take courses during two summer terms. We also offer block scheduling to allow students to take a reduced number of courses over nine-week periods to give students the quality learning time they need to master the skills and standards of their grade level. On Friday, May 15th, our families and staff teamed up at the Mid Michigan Community Action Agency (MMCAA) Food Warehouse in Clare, MI, for an amazing day of service. MMCAA distributes food boxes to families in need across more than 15 counties, and we were thrilled to help support their mission. A massive THANK YOU to all the students, parents, and staff who came out to lend a hand. We appreciate your time, your hard work, and your big hearts! 💜

Here is a look at what our awesome volunteers accomplished:
⚡Packed 432 food boxes in a high-energy assembly line.
🤍Fed 217 local seniors for an entire month!
🥫Donated extra food to the walk-in pantry, including leftover snacks from state testing.
😊Connected face-to-face! Since we spend most of the year online, it was the perfect chance for families and staff to chat, laugh, and really get to know each other.

Busy hands made for great conversation (and it's safe to say the moms had the most fun!). Huge thanks to MMCAA for fueling us with pizza and snacks. We wrapped up the day by passing out Great Lakes Learning Academy swag—including a raffle for a coveted Erie stuffy! 🍕

As a virtual school, our community stretches across the entire state. It was beautiful to see our families come together to support the very neighborhoods we all call home. 🌎
