With the upcoming storm Waste Management has delayed trash pickup for Monday January 26th. Please refrain from putting your barrels out until Tuesday morning so they do not interfere with snow removal.

If you have to venture out during the storm please keep your speeds down and remember there is no parking on roadways or you could be subject to a ticket and tow.

MELVIN ALAN KEDDY

Officer Melvin Keddy was struck and killed by a drunk driver's vehicle while investigating a one-car accident. He was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The 32-year-old suspect, charged with negligent homicide, accepted a plea bargain following a hung jury.

On September 7, 2005, a portion of Route 125 was dedicated as the Officer Melvin A. Keddy Memorial Highway.

Request for Public Assistance – Crash Involving Utility Pole

The Newton Police Department is seeking the public’s help regarding a crash that occurred across from 45 North Main Street, Newton.
Timeframe: Between 10:00 AM and 3:30 PM today
Suspect Vehicle: Believed to be a white Volkswagen traveling southbound, which crossed into the opposite lane and struck a utility pole, snapping it.
At this time, we are concerned not only with identifying the vehicle and driver involved, but also for the well-being of the driver and any passengers who may have been injured in the crash.

We’re asking nearby residents, businesses, or passersby who may have:

Seen or heard the crash

Noticed a white Volkswagen with fresh significant damage

Have security or dashcam footage from the area

NEWS RELEASE: DRIVER SERIOUSLY INJURED AFTER CRASH IN EAST KINGSTON

EAST KINGSTON, N.H. – A South Hampton woman suffered serious injuries after crashing into a truck.

At 12:26 p.m. today, April 23, 2025, State Troopers assigned to the Troop A barracks responded to a report of a serious crash on South Road in East Kingston. At the request of East Kingston Police Department, Troopers assumed primary responsibility of the investigation.

The preliminary investigation determined that a 2015 Jeep Patriot, driven by Erin Baker, 53, of South Hampton, was traveling southbound on South Road, when it left its lane of travel, crossed the road and collided with the rear end of a stationary 1994 International 9200 6x4 truck. The International truck was unoccupied at the time of crash.

As a result of the collision, Baker suffered serious injuries and was transported by medical helicopter to an area hospital for treatment.

Troopers on the scene were assisted by members of the East Kingston Police Department, the East Kingston Fire Department, the Newton Fire Department, and the Kensington Police Department.

All aspects of this crash remain under investigation. Anyone with information about this event is asked to contact Trooper Kevin LeDoux at [email protected].
