2025 East Kingston Fire Department appreciation award was presented to Mike Naccarato. Mike is one of our board of directors. Mike helped to secure a brand new elevator for our station 1, he also designed the new heat system at our station 2, along with new lighting for our hall. Mike your dedication to helping in anyway especially on these big projects is appreciated. congratulations and thank you!

This past weekend we held our annual banquet for 2025 for our department. We would like to thank the members of the Ruby Fire department for hosting us, as always the food and hospitality was amazing.

As always we cannot do this without our members. We answered 275 calls for service in 2025.

At 17:49 on Friday 2/7/25 East Kingston was dispatched to a reported couch fire. A 2nd alarm was requested due to smoke, fire and conditions.
Units assisting on the scene were Ulster Hose, Glasco, Sawkill, Rhinebeck, City of Kingston FAST, and Esopus with manpower due to extreme temperatures. Ruby and Port Ewen standing by in East Kingston stations for additional calls. Central Hudson, Empress, UCFIU and Ulster Town Highway assisted on scene.

This Friday and Saturday, family, friends, community members, and first responders will be gathering in Phoenicia to honor the life of Fire District Commissioner Michael J. Ryan, who passed away on Sunday. Large crowds are expected, so please plan ahead for delays on Route 28. Please be aware of the following information:

The Wake Service (for family and friends) will be held on Friday, Dec. 19 from 1 – 3 PM at the E.B. Gormley Funeral Home, located at 87 Main Street, Phoenicia. First Responders from Fire, Police, and EMS agencies are invited to pay their respects from 3 – 5 PM.

The Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, Dec. 20, at St. Francis de Sales Church, located at 109 Main Street, Phoenicia. The service will begin at 12 noon. Large department vehicles from Fire, Police, and EMS agencies will be staged along Route 28 near the cemetery, located at 6456 Route 28, for a static lineup.

The following intersections in Phoenicia will be closed both Friday and Saturday surrounding the service times:
Route 214/Main St
Church St/Main St
Bridge St/Main St
Bridge St/High St
Route 212/Plank Rd
Plank Rd/Water Works Rd

The designated parking areas for the events are:
- Maurice D Hinchey Catskill Interpretive Center - 5096 Route 28, Shandaken
- Phoenicia Elementary - 11 School Ln, Shandaken
- Tonche Transit - 5181 Route 28, Shandaken
- Shandaken Town Hall - 7209 Route 28, Shandaken
- Onteora High School - 4166 Route 28, Olive (Saturday only)

UCAT buses will be shuttling to and from these areas starting Friday at 12 PM and Saturday at 10 AM, and will loop continuously until the events have ended.
