To adopt from us, you will need to fill out an application, which will then have to be approved by our Animal Control Officers. If you already have another dog, we encourage you to bring it with you to meet the animal you are interested in. We have areas set up at the shelter to introduce dogs and see how they get along together. Application can be found here: https://www.townofeasthavenct.org/an

🚨🚨PLEASE SHARE SHARE SHARE🚨🚨

💔 We honestly don't understand how McLovin is still here.

When McLovin first arrived at the shelter after being abandoned, we didn't know much about him. We weren't sure how he'd do around other dogs, children, or in a busy environment.

This weekend, McLovin attended one of our fundraising events and absolutely blew us away.

🐾 He got along with the other dogs.
🐾 He met people of all ages.
🐾 He happily soaked up attention from everyone.
🐾 He even gave one lucky little kid a full-face McLovin kiss! 😘🐶

The sweet, goofy boy we've come to know at the shelter showed everyone exactly who he is: a friendly, loving dog who just wants to be part of a family.

At approximately 2 years old and 70 pounds of pure muscle, McLovin may look tough, but underneath all those muscles is a giant sweetheart.😍 He did amazing at the vet for his vaccines, nail trim, and bath, and now he's proving that he can be a great companion out in the community too.

The only thing missing from McLovin's story is a home.

One family came to meet him and really liked him, but unfortunately it wasn't the right fit. Since then, not a single application has come in for this wonderful dog.

Please help us change that.

I was found roaming on Short Beach Rd by the intersection of Cliff St and Hilton Ave by 2 really nice ladies! I have a collar on but I don't have my tags and I'm not microchipped 😞

If someone recognizes me can you please let my mom or dad know I'm at the East Haven Animal Shelter and have them call to and come get me! Have them call 203-468-3249 amd let them know that I'm safe and secure but I'd really like to go home 😊❤️

These sweet babies are approximately 9 weeks old and are ready to find loving families of their own! ❤️

Like all kittens, they are playful, curious, energetic, and full of personality. Whether they're chasing toys, wrestling with their siblings, or curling up for a nap after a busy day of adventures, they're sure to bring lots of love and laughter into your home.

💡 A Note About Adopting Kittens: If you do not currently have another cat at home, we strongly recommend adopting kittens in pairs. Kittens learn important social skills from one another, help keep each other entertained, and often adjust more easily to their new homes when they have a familiar feline friend by their side. Plus, double the kittens means double the fun!

☀️🐾 PLEASE DON'T LEAVE PETS IN HOT CARS 🐾☀️

With warmer weather arriving, we'd like to remind everyone that leaving your pet in a parked vehicle—even for a few minutes—can quickly become a life-threatening situation.

Even on a mild day, temperatures inside a vehicle can rise dangerously fast. Cracking the windows does little to slow the heat buildup, and pets can suffer from heatstroke, organ failure, or even death in a very short amount of time.

If you're running errands, please leave your pets safely at home where they can stay cool and comfortable. Trust us—they'd much rather be relaxing in the air conditioning!

⚠️ Please remember that leaving an animal in a vehicle under conditions that endanger its health or safety may result in animal cruelty or neglect charges. What may seem like "just a few minutes" can quickly become an emergency.

🚨 If you see an animal left unattended in a vehicle and it appears to be in distress, please contact the East Haven Police Department Non-Emergency Line at 203-468-3820 immediately.
