🥕 Fresh food, local farms, and hands-on learning! 🌽 The East Hartford Farm to School Program brought its in-school Farmer’s Market back to Mayberry Elementary School last week!

Kindergarten through 5th grade students had the opportunity to “shop” for local produce and maple syrup from Handel Family Farm (East Hartford), Holcomb Farm (Granby), Forest Mill Farm (Coventry), and Shop Rite with apples from Rogers Orchard (Southington).

Experiences like this help students learn about where their food comes from and how it can be grown right here in Connecticut! Funding for this event was made possible thanks to a grant from the Raymond and Pauline Larson Foundation.

Today, students at Pitkin Elementary School turned a fire drill into an opportunity to show their gratitude and appreciation. 🚒 In honor of September 11, they created cards and posters for the East Hartford Fire Department, thanking them for all they do to keep our community safe.
