Today, we mark 25 years since the attacks of September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives that day, and the families and loved ones who have carried that loss for the past 25 years.

We also remember the people who, in the midst of unimaginable fear and confusion, chose to help others. The first responders who ran toward danger, and the coworkers, friends and strangers who helped one another however they could.

Here in East Hampton, we will gather tonight to remember together. American Legion Post 419, along with local fire departments and first responders, will hold a 9/11 25th Anniversary Ceremony at the memorial outside the Legion, 15 Montauk Highway in Amagansett, beginning at 6:00 PM.

Twenty-five years later, we remember the lives that were lost and the humanity shown by so many that day.

We will never forget.

S.T.O.P. Day returns Saturday, September 12!

Help protect your family, our drinking water, and East Hampton’s bays and estuaries by safely disposing of household chemicals and other hazardous materials at the East Hampton Recycling Center.

🗓️ Saturday, September 12
🕘 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
📍 East Hampton Recycling Center, 260 Springs Fireplace Road

Residents can bring items including engine coolant, oil and latex water-based paints, pesticides, stale fuel, flammable materials, chemical aerosols, thinners and urethanes for safe disposal.

Proper disposal helps keep these materials out of our groundwater and environment. Check the flyer for acceptable items, and we’ll see you there!

As students return to the classroom, East Hampton Town Police officers will be increasing patrols around our schools, and Traffic Control Specialists will be helping at school crossings.

Drivers, please slow down, put the phone away, watch for students crossing and always stop for a school bus with its red lights flashing.

Happy Labor Day from the Town of East Hampton.

Labor Day is a chance to recognize the generations of working people whose efforts helped build our communities and whose advocacy helped secure many of the protections we now take for granted, including safer workplaces, fairer wages, reasonable working hours and the weekend.

Here in East Hampton, we are especially proud of our Town employees. Every day, they care for our beaches and parks, maintain our roads, keep our community safe, serve our seniors, support our families and provide the many public services our residents rely on.

Today, we celebrate their work and the contributions of working people everywhere. The strength of our community has always rested on the people who show up, do the work and look out for one another.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy Labor Day.
