Kudos to the NHRHS Drama Club for their recent performance of Rock of Ages! There were over 40 students involved in both cast and crew. Students collaborated beautifully by taking on many leadership roles including direction, choreography, sound, lighting, stage crew and more. So many parents helped with ticket sales, intermission sales, and arranging a lovely cast party after the Sunday show. This event truly showed the best of our school community. When reflecting on the show, Mrs. Evans felt infinite pride and joy about this accomplishment.

Spring Fruits of Winter Labors!
During the winter, students in the Agricultural Education Program at Nathan Hale-Ray High School spend weeks producing maple syrup. They are involved in all stages of the project including tapping trees, collecting sap, keeping records, boiling the sap down into maple syrup, and bottling it. In culmination, students participate in a pancake breakfast and enjoy the fruit of their labors!

Two years ago 17 students and I visited a school as part of our trip across Peru. Some of the Peruvian students walk two hours each way to get to school, and most were in need of things we take for granted. Our staff donated $500 which purchased basic necessities like toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, and sunscreen for 29 students. The community also donated 40 backpacks and piles of school materials. This April break, 17 students will be traveling to Costa Rica and visiting a school that will undoubtedly be in need of help. If you would like to wear jeans for the next two weeks, fill out the form and send your donation to me.

See attachments for details.

Students in Dog Care & Management classes at NHRHS practice the following skills: brushing and removing matted hair, clipping nails, bathing and blow-drying the dogs. During semester 1, students groomed a variety of breeds including Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, Boxers, a Black Mouth Cur, a Pekingese and many interesting mixed breeds. Thank you to the students, East Haddam staff and community members who brought their dogs to us! Please email [email protected] if you would like to make an appointment for November or December of 2019. Note: Proof of current rabies vaccination required!
