Love winter sports and enjoy working with people? Join the East Grand Forks Parks & Recreation team this winter as an Ice Rink Attendant!

We’re looking for dependable, friendly people to help keep our outdoor rinks and recreational skating safe, clean, and ready for skaters throughout the season. This position is great for students!

Our 2026 Deer Management Plan is kicking off tomorrow, October 8th. 🦌

The following zone will be closed and designated for our hunters through October 10th. Please remain mindful around the area and, of course, check out egfparks.com/hunting-and-fishing for more details.

A reminder that the second half of the Deer Management Plan will take place in November, so keep your eyes and ears open for announcements as we draw closer to those dates.

🍂 Seasonal Facility Closures

As we head into fall and prepare our parks and facilities for the winter season, please take note of the upcoming seasonal closures:

LaFave Park Boat Launch & Dock — October 1
Sherlock Park, Griggs Park & Eagle Point Park Trailhead Bathrooms — October 5
O’Leary Park & River Heights Trailhead Bathrooms — October 12
O’Leary Pickleball Court — October 22 (or earlier, depending on weather)
Eagle Point Boat Launch — Date TBD

A reminder that we will no longer be accepting reservations for park shelter reservations in 2026. We will begin accepting applications again for the 2027 season on February 1st.

Thank you for enjoying our parks and helping us keep these spaces clean and cared for throughout the season! 🍁

Another big milestone at the VFW Arena! ✨

The new VFW Arena floor is officially taking shape! Check out this time-lapse of the complete concrete pour for the new arena floor, completed by JLG Architects and Construction Engineers.

A special thank you to Bass Pro Shops for their $3,500 donation to the EGF Parks and Recreation LaFave Park Improvement project and conservation effort! Through their Round-Up program, Bass Pro has contributed around $25,000 in recent years.

🚣‍♀️ Thanks to their program and contributions from the community, the updated boating area in LaFave Park now includes a double-wide concrete boat ramp, two launch lanes for quicker loading and unloading, a floating dock between the launch lanes, a dedicated ADA-accessible kayak launch, an accessible fishing dock, and expanded parking for vehicles and trailers.

🌾 Beyond that, we have a newly installed section of native prairie made up of grasses and wildflowers native to the Red River Valley, providing important habitats for pollinators and improving stormwater management.

Thank you, Bass Pro, helping us create a healthier, more resilient landscape for years to come. 💚

Due to low water levels on the river, the LaFave Park ADA dock has been closed for the season. We apologize for any inconveniences this may pose. There's still time, however, to use the main dock and kayak launch before the cold season falls upon us! 🛶
