What an AMAZING wedding! ❤️
We had a beautiful outdoor ceremony at an incredible barn venue (although I do wish the owner had been around a little more often). The DJ and photographer? Absolutely amazing to work with!
But what happened afterward is what really got me.
Six people came up to me to tell me what an incredible story I had told. People were laughing, cheering the couple on, crying happy tears, and genuinely having FUN!
Then the photographer came up to me, pretty much gave me a hug, and told me that in the thousands of weddings he's photographed, he had never seen anyone tell a couple's love story quite like I did. He called me a breath of fresh air.
Ummm… excuse me while I float around on Cloud 9¾. 😂🪄
But wait… there's more!
During the vows, the couple read their own personal promises to each other. The groom got into his feels and started crying. Then the best man put his hand on the groom's back… and HE started crying, too.
I looked out at the guests and saw at least four people wiping tears from their faces.
And then… yep. One tear escaped my eye.
I mean, COME ON! What was I supposed to do? I'm an officiant, not a robot! 😂❤️
But it got me thinking…
Am I up there simply performing a wedding ceremony? Or am I connecting with the couple and their guests?
Honestly? I think it's BOTH.
My job isn't just to stand up front, say some pretty words, and make sure everyone signs the right paperwork. (Although, trust me, that paperwork matters!)
I want to make the couple the center of their own story while giving their guests a reason to lean in and listen. I want people to learn something personal about the couple, laugh at just the right moments, maybe shed a tear or two, and walk away feeling even more connected to the two people they've gathered to celebrate.
Because these guests aren't just an audience. They're the people who have loved, supported, and helped shape this couple's journey. Their story means something to them, too.
And there's another piece of this that I think matters just as much: collaboration.
When I connect with the other wedding professionals, whether it's the DJ, photographer, or anyone else working behind the scenes, we're no longer just a bunch of vendors checking things off a to-do list.
We're a TEAM.
The DJ helps create the atmosphere. The photographer captures the moments. The florist helps paint the scene in beautiful colors and adds texture. And I help bring the couple's story to life. When we work together, we create something bigger than any one of us could create alone.
We're creating an EXPERIENCE. One that the couple and their guests will remember long after the flowers have wilted and the cake has mysteriously disappeared. 😂
So, yeah… I'm still floating somewhere around Cloud 9¾.
And if one tear escapes during the next ceremony? Well, apparently, that's just part of the service. 😉
Your story, your ceremony, your way.
That's why I do what I do with Forever the Knot. ❤️💍
