Scattered heavy showers and thunderstorms will develop across western Pennsylvania later today and slowly track eastward across the state through tonight .
Areas of flash flooding is the main threat, though a few stronger storms may develop over western PA this afternoon /evening and produce locally damaging wind gusts.

BLAIR PA ALERT: NWS Partners - Blair County and Surrounding Areas, Wednesday, September 9, 2026
Thunderstorms will develop over northwest PA in the afternoon and move to the south and east in the evening and early tonight.



Damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall will be the primary hazards, but an isolated tornado can not be ruled out.
The greatest threat will be to areas north and west of Altoona, State College and Williamsport.


Important change: The threat for tornadoes has increased very slightly.

BLAIR PA ALERT:

FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT THROUGH 8 AM SATURDAY MORNING
Flood Watch issued September 4 at 12:05PM EDT until September 5 at 8:00AM EDT by NWS State College PA
* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...A portion of central Pennsylvania, including the following
counties, Bedford, Blair, Cambria and Somerset.

* WHEN...Through 8 AM Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks,
streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Creeks and
streams may rise out of their banks. River flooding is also
possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Training heavy showers and embedded thunderstorms will track
southeast across the region this afternoon into tonight. Rainfall
rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour will be possible. Heavy rain
falling at this rate will lead to rapid runoff and flash
flooding, as rainfall rates required to result in flash flooding
are only 0.75 to 1.25 inches over a one hour period across the
watch area. Localized storm total rainfall this afternoon through
tonight could reach 3 inches in some locations, mainly to the
south of Interstate 76.

Thunderstorms will track northwest to southeast again on Friday afternoon, affecting primarily southwestern Pennsylvania.
Damaging wind gusts and heavy rainfall will be the primary hazards.
After an incredibly active few days, this should be the last round of severe weather for the area until at least the middle of next week.

Tornado Warning issued September 3 at 7:54PM EDT until September 3 at 8:30PM EDT by NWS State College PA

The National Weather Service in State College PA has issued a

* Tornado Warning for...
Northeastern Bedford County in south central Pennsylvania...
Southern Blair County in central Pennsylvania...
South central Cambria County in central Pennsylvania...

* Until 830 PM EDT.

* At 753 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located over Ski Gap, moving east at 45 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This dangerous storm will be near...
Ski Gap, Roaring Spring, and Claysburg around 800 PM EDT.
Martinsburg around 810 PM EDT.

Other locations impacted by this tornadic thunderstorm include
Woodbury, Spring Hill, Cassandra, Saxton, and East Freedom.

This includes Interstate 99 from mile markers 13 to 27.
TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter
and protect yourself from flying debris.
