Yesterday, we were activated for a reported ride malfunction at Adventureland.

Upon arrival, crews found the park's newest attraction, the Wave Twister, stopped approximately 25 feet in the air with 15 passengers stranded onboard.

A large-scale rescue operation was initiated under the command of Chief of Department James Quinn Jr. Our crews worked alongside the Suffolk County Police Department Emergency Services Unit (ESU) and multiple mutual aid departments to safely remove each passenger from the ride.

Due to the complexity of the incident, each rider had to be individually secured and carefully brought to the ground using specialized rescue equipment and aerial apparatus. The operation lasted just over three hours, with the final passenger safely reaching the ground at approximately 10:39 PM.

Thanks to the teamwork, training, and professionalism of all agencies involved, all 15 passengers were safely rescued without injury.

We would like to thank Suffolk County Police ESU, our mutual aid partners, Adventureland staff, and all responding personnel for their assistance throughout this incident.

Great work by all agencies involved in bringing this challenging operation to a safe and successful conclusion.
