This morning we had the opportunity to do an arch detail with the West Babylon Volunteer Fire Department at West Babylon High School in honor of those many lives that were lost today.

This picture carries a powerful meaning on September 11th. It shows different generations of the fire service standing together at a school—veteran firefighters alongside young men who were not even alive when the attacks of 9/11 occurred. They may not have witnessed that day, but they are learning the traditions of service, sacrifice, brotherhood, and remembrance from those who did.

This is how we keep the promise to Never Forget. We tell the stories. We honor the 343 FDNY members and all those who lost their lives. And most importantly, we pass their memory on to the next generation so that September 11, 2001, is never allowed to become just another date in a history book.

On this day, our Company reflects on the lives and sacrifices of four members whose service represents the very best of the fire service and the brotherhood we share.

Firefighters Kevin Smith, FDNY Haz-Mat Company 1, and Raymond Meisenheimer, FDNY Rescue 3, made the ultimate sacrifice at the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.

We also honor Anthony Mastrelli, FDNY Ladder Company 56, and Patrick Lauro, FDNY Ladder Company 47, who later passed away from 9/11-related illnesses as a result of their service following the attacks.

Their courage, dedication, and sacrifice will never be forgotten. We will continue to keep their memories alive and honor the service they gave to their communities, their departments, and our country.

Four brothers. Four heroes. Forever remembered.

Today, our Muster Team headed out to the Nassau County Firefighters Museum to show off the oldest piece of apparatus in our fleet — our 1951 Mack Pumper!

After bringing home 1st place last year, the Mack was back on display today and once again caught plenty of eyes. This year we took home the Long Island Antique Apparatus Award.

It’s always great to get this piece of East Farmingdale history out and let everyone see just how special she is!

Today, we responded to a reported vehicle fire at 7-Eleven located at Route 110 and Conklin Street.

Engine 1-5-1 was the first due engine and quickly stretched a line, making a quick knockdown of the fire under the direction of Lieutenant Esposito.

Units on scene included:

Engine 1-5-6
Engine 1-5-7
Fire Police 1-5-18
Medic Responder 1-5-80
Safety 1

All units operated under the command of Captain Grosvalet.

Yesterday Juniors Captain Bradyn Lewis, and Juniors Lieutenant JJ Pensabene graduated from Camp Fahrenheit 516, 2026 at the Nassau County Fire Academy. They both participated in a week long training program along with 47 other Junior Firefighters in Nassau and Suffolk Counties. The week long academy program consisted of 2 minutes drills, hose Handling drills, vent enter and search drills, the flashover simulator, fire dynamic behavior training and so much more. The Fire Company would like to congratulate junior Captain Lewis, and Junior Lieutenant Pensabene on a great job.
