🚨 Race Day Is Just One Month Away! We Need Volunteers! 🚨

The West Dundee River Challenge is only a month away, and we have filled less than half of the Race Marshal positions needed to make this event a success.

We are asking for your help today.

Please consider signing up for a volunteer spot and share this opportunity with your friends, family, coworkers, community groups, and anyone else who may be interested. The sooner we fill these positions, the better prepared we will be for race day.

Volunteering is a great way to be part of this exciting community tradition. Volunteers will receive a special race cap and all necessary instructions before the event.

And don't forget, Race Day is more than just the competition. It is a fun-filled day that concludes with live music and a celebration at the base of the hill near the Village Squire.

🚴‍♂️ The West Dundee River Challenge Returns! 🚴‍♀️

Mark your calendars for Friday, July 17, as downtown West Dundee once again hosts the West Dundee River Challenge, the opening event of the Chicago Grit Racing Series. This annual tradition brings professional and amateur cyclists from across the country and around the world to our community for a full day of exciting racing and family-friendly activities.

Known for its challenging "Leg Breaker" hill climb, the West Dundee course winds through the historic Old Town North neighborhood and along the Fox River, creating one of the most unique and exciting race venues in the Midwest.

In addition to world-class bicycle racing, attendees can enjoy:

• Family activities and inflatables in the KidZone
• The Dundee Open-Air Market featuring local businesses and vendors
• Race-side dining and entertainment from local restaurants
• A Family Bike Parade
• Live music, food, drinks, and afterparty festivities throughout the evening

The event is free for spectators and offers something for everyone, whether you're a cycling enthusiast or simply looking for a great summer event with family and friends.

Due to the storms that came through the area yesterday and further inclement weather forecasted for this afternoon and evening, we understand that you may be dealing with storm damage, including broken tree branches.

Over the next two days, our Public Works crew will collect downed limbs across the village's neighborhoods.

Please drag any downed branches and limbs to the curb, with the larger end facing the street.

Due to forecasted storms and inclement weather later today, Dundee Township Park District has cancelled its Family Fun Night event scheduled for this evening at Huffman Park.

The next Family Fun Night hosted by the park district is scheduled for Wednesday, July 15, at Lions Park in East Dundee.

Need to update your I-PASS from the clunky old plastic transponder to the new, sleeker I-PASS sticker tag, but not sure where an I-PASS or Illinois Tollway office is even located? 🤔

Tomorrow (6/9), stop by our neighbors to the north 👋 at the Village of Lake in the Hills Village Hall from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm for a Special I-PASS on Demand event hosted by State Senator Dave Syverson and State Senator Don DeWitte where I-PASS comes locally to you! 🚘

✴️TRAFFIC UPDATE✴️ (Wednesday, June 3, 2026 - 4:45 PM)

All lanes near IL Route 31 and Boncosky Road have reopened. Expect some delays in the area until the traffic flow returns to normal.

⚠️ CAUTION: TEMPORARY ROAD CLOSURE / LANE CLOSURE ALERT⚠️ (Wednesday, June 3, 2026 - 3:30 PM)

Southbound IL Route 31 is closed at Boncosky Road, and northbound traffic is currently down to one lane, due to a diesel fuel leak. Please avoid the area if at all possible.
