Congratulations to our EMT (Soon to be Paramedic!) Madaline Heim on being awarded the Paramedic Student Spotlight from SOE Paramount.

What Does It Mean to Be Selected as a Student Spotlight?
According to the School of EMS itself:

Being selected as the Student Spotlight in an SOE lab is a recognition of more than just clinical skill. It's a reflection of professionalism, dedication, and leadership in a high-pressure learning environment.

It means she has consistently demonstrated mastery of hands-on skills, a commitment to learning, and a strong understanding of protocols and procedures. She came prepared, stayed engaged, and took every opportunity to improve not only herself but also her peers by offering support and fostering a positive team dynamic.

As the Student Spotlight, she has shown composure under pressure, a willingness to receive and apply feedback, and the ability to think critically in simulated emergency situations. Her conduct reflects the values of a future paramedic!

This morning, members of the East Dubuque Fire Department spent more than five hours developing our Strategic Plan for the next three years. Since 2011, we have created multi-year strategic plans, and they have been exceedingly successful.

In recent years, those plans have led to the creation of our Fire Academy, the development of our training grounds, and the construction of the new Emergency Services Building. All of these plans and more have been implemented in advance.

In the coming weeks, we will be fine-tuning the plans and developing a strategy for how each member of the department and community can help us get it done!

East Dubuque Fire has reached Gold Helmet department status within NFR for having over 50% of our members enrolled.

This institute helps track cancer statistics among firefighters across the nation.
